These takes are wild. The album was fire! I can’t stand when people try to make an artist stay in an era. Yes, Detroit was a fire mixtape and Dark Sky Paradise was a fire album. But artists also have to show growth and rap about where they are in life. This album is growth for his catalog.

I agree with that Big Sean point about the mental health music. It’s the same way I felt about Chance and his happy married music. You’re happy for the person because they’re in a genuine good space. But their happiness isn’t translating into good songs.

Yea but comparing this to the big day is wild lol, Sean still sounds like he’s going through his own battles not that he’s already conquered allHis demons, plus What is he supposes to rap about if he can’t be in reflective/introspective now (esp when that actually helped him get a stronger base)

@@romaretaylor9953 I’m not necessarily comparing it to Big Day. More so the period where both artists are transitioning their sound paralleled with changes in their lives. The album quality wise is good BUT it's not resonating to listners because he's not being fully authentic. It's what I say about Charlamagne when he speaks on mental health...you can't be an advocate about mental health if you aren't applying it to yourself. Going to therapy isn't the cure. it's the treatment if you're doing the work. Big Sean believes because he's educated himself and gains the knowledge of spirituality and awakening, he's done the work. But he hasn't applied it to himself. That's the disconnect in his music. He still has work to do, skeletons to unhide, and shadow work

They completely missed Mel’s example because as usual they cut her off. She wasn’t saying he put pain in the music she was saying when she’s in a certain “state” in her life her music sounds different. Correlation: Sean is at a peaceful place in his life and in THIS state the TYPE of music he just made being directly impacted by it is not the peoples FAVORITE version of his craft. She wasn’t saying ATTEMPTING to ASK him if that’s what he was saying and all he heard was “pain” and was like nah that’s not what I mean I’m not saying he put pain in it. Neither did she.
