One of the big drivers for the violence in Chicago was closing all of the big housing projects. They spread the violence throughout the neighborhoods in the city and caused a lot more turf wars. Where one gang would run a project and it was a clear boundary, now gangs fight for blocks.

That was THF fat shorty shooting up SKD Hell Vell and his friends at the GoLo gas station in Chicago. Down in Chicago there’s so many murders a year cops know who shot who and who’s killing what. It’s just that they don’t have enough evidence to pin it on them. Gangs also boast about killings on Twitter all day everyday.

Chicago has strict gun control, but most of the suburbs directly outside the city have little to none. Come off of Cicero Ave into Bridgeview and there are gun shops on every corner. Gun laws mean nothing under such circumstance. Now with the internet, you can buy a gun on-line used from a private party and have it at your home in a day, no background check. Gun laws only work when they are nation-wide and are actually enforced.
@lpr5269

NYC and LA real estate kept gentrifying and forcing out ghettos. This just never happened to Chicago, the number one metro area for people relocating away from a region in US. Rust belt is a hard place to live, our old 1950s ways just don't keep up with the 21st century

I was born and raised in Chicago, first in a bungalow off of 33rd & Damien Ave (the actual south side of Chicago proper), then later moved to Bolingbrook 30 mi SW of the city. Never had any issues back then (born in 68', moved away in 83' then moved back in 89' before leaving for good in 91'). Went back to the old neighborhood off of 33rd & Damien in 2003 and holy shit. Pulled up in front of the old crib and everything looked normal, a bit run down but otherwise all looked ok. Then about eight Latinos poured out of the house with the leader coming right up to me, eyeballing me saying, "WTF you doin here MF'er!" I replied, "all good, this used to be my grandmother's home from 1944 until she sold it in 83' and I was just going down memory lane." Dude says, "not your granny's home anymore now GTFO F'er." Got in the car and left. What a shame.

Billy Corgan grew up in the burbs. Not even a burb that butted up to the city limits. And he didn't live on the south or west side so he's seen as much violence as the rest of us Chicagolandians... rarely. Although there were gangs in his high school, but that was true of a lot of high schools.

Whatever, dude. We have concealed-carry in Chicago, despite whatever makes you happy to believe. It hardly matters if a church group can pressure a South Side gun shop to close, if someone wanting a gun can take a 10-minute car ride to Hammond, Indiana and find whatever they want at a gun mall there. Our last police chief, hardly a lefty, said the biggest single cause for our murder-rate is the proliferation of small-arms.

It’s crazy all these people who never set foot in the hoods of Chicago talking about what to do. You don’t even try to understand why it’s happening nor do you know what goes on. People rather seem right then be honest and say “i don’t know what’s going on, I’ll just leave it alone.”

I can tell you why it happens with out ever setting foot in the hood. It happens because of worthless idiots. Period.

regardless of what party is to blame, there exists a severe lack of willingness to really do something. without jobs, the hope of making a change in the economics, thus lifestyle, of the south n westsides, we will continue to see desperation in action. guns come from indiana, so theres that

Regardless of which party is to blame? Its only the dimocrats. They've run the city for a hundred years or more. Same with every big city cesspool. Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, et al. Calls for defunding the police, letting homeless run amok. How's that working out for ya?
