im a connor fan, the fact is he got beat by a better fighter, i was disappointed at the time but khabib deserves the win and the belt. great fighter, great attitude to the sport, abit stupid for what he did but i understand why he did it. i hope he continues to keep winning, and hope connor keeps fighting too bcus although hes not the best fighter in the world, hes brought the game to a new level and no matter if he wins in 13 seconds or gets mauled to death its always an entertaining fight when mcgregors involved. hes still the greatest 145'er ever and for that ill always respect him, but honestly, he could fight khabib 10 times and i think unless he landed a lucky punch khabib would beat him 10 times out of 10.

He should stay on the legends tour. Fight Cowboy, Fight RDA, tease and duck masvidal. Diaz should duck conor. The legend tour is all about drumming up business. Its really not about the fights. @Palaelogus
@Palaelogus 3 жыл бұрын
BaronVonBielski what’s your problem? Take it easy. Take a big breath and cool it with the triggered outbursts. Connor V Nate 2 was real close, while Nate crushed him the first time, they should definitely fight again (sometime). Also, let me add I wrote this comment before the BMF-fight and Connor V Cerrone. The relative value of their stocks have changed and maybe I would reconsider if Nate deserves the fight right now. Maybe Connor V Masvidal for the BMF-belt would be a better fit now, and maybe if Connor loses, then the trilogy with Nate could be next. That being said, Connor DEFINITELY shouldn’t be considered for a rematch with Khabib yet.

Conor vs. Khabib is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. As a die hard Conor fan, I was sore when he lost, but I had a very strong feeling going into it that Khabib was going to dominate that fight. While I hope Conor continues to fight, a rematch is just not it. He was outclassed the entire fight.

I don't think so. Imo their game plan was to not get tired and go into the later rounds. McGregors cardio was much improved. I don't think he thought he was going to get submitted. He underrated khabib in that aspect. I have no idea why. He really lacked tenacity in his striking my only assumption is that they trained for a lot of endurance and it cost him speed and power.

Kavanagh is one of the best coaches in the business, very cool and honorable both in victory and defeat. And he is right that their training camp focused more on defence rather than on offence as evidenced by what went down. That said, an adjustment in their training focus could have the contest more competitive. But I seriously doubt it if the result would be any different. Of course, Conor's ego would ensure an immediate rematch. It will surely be bigger in terms of PPV and live audience. More profit for the UFC. But in that match, he will really be humbled and his face really "smeshed."

it happens literally everyday.. it's nothing new at all fighters bend the rules all the time you clearly don't watch a lot of fighting. Muhammad Ali did it when he was about to suffer his first loss after being knocked down, no one really cares dude. Ferguson threw an illegal kick against barboza in a scramble. How frequent it happens has nothing to do with it. Rules are there for a reason. The referees should be enforcing them in the first instance. Mistake or not. Fighters would think twice then wouldnt they. That knee on the ground, Conor should have had a point taken there and then. You can't punish one fighter and let the next get away with it. What if that had knocked khabib out or even dazed him. Should be no tolerance for it what so ever.

I was actually impressed with Conor in the first round, he looked very calm and relaxed while he was on his back and didn't waste his energy by trying to explode back to his feet. When the second round started he should have been more switched on but after he got caught with that right it completely changed the narrative of the fight which led to the submission. Would definitely be interested in a rematch but I think Conor should fight Ferguson and then the winner of that gets Khabib.

Im 3yrs late but help me explain how that insignificant overhand right “Change the narrative of the fight“. Khabib feinted for a td. Connor reacted and started to move the overhand right connects but doesnt nothing. I know and say this because in previous fights anytime Khabib lands at overhead right he rushes in with a flying knee. Conors but didnt ever actually hit the canvas. Essentially conor drops to one knee & evaded Khabibs knee. Lands one of his own and they keep trading until a few moments later when Khabib gets another td.

m smith yes he deserved it. Did you not see him throw the first punch whole he was climbing the fence. Khabib's cousin was on the fence not even looking at Conor and Conor threw 2 lefts at him. So Yea he deserved it. If he had sat on his ass where khabib left him then NO ONE would have attacked him lol

Let me tell ya.. As a first time UFC ppv goer I enjoyed all the fights. Sadly the main event wasn't crazy as I expected but I think it was crazy at how dominant Khabib was. Real talk though I fucking loved the Black Beast come back. I got so fucking hyped up.

Skyrocket888 so you’re saying no one deserves a rematch vs Khabib? Cause he has dominated all his fights soon he’ll run out of opponents there has to rematches

jeffreymmorse There’s still Tony Ferguson and Gaethje and He’s retiring soon anyways. Saying Conor deserves another title shot if he wins against a Cerrone on a losing streak is like saying CM Punk deserves a rematch vs Mickey Gall.

What a smart guy this coach is. Very honest and interesting interview. Conor is very lucky to have this guy in his corner. I hope he is getting the bucks he deserves. I hope for Conor’s sake that any money he makes going forward is icing on a cake that can never be eaten. It would be very sad if Conor gets hurt and ends up broke. He should never come close to having money problems even if he retires right now. Conor is smart but if he is spending more than he is making then he is a real fool. Please. Conor, don’t let your ego control you. You will regret it deeply later. Showing off is ok if it’s pure fun, but if if becomes important then you end up miserable the minute you lose your edge, and that can always happen. The attack of that bus worried me. I never thought Conor would ever stoop to that kind of foolishness. Get your feet back in the ground. Happiness is not about ego, it’s about love. Attacking busses is ego. Its a bad thing. If it was a stunt for attention then it’s a real pity. You have enough money. You do not need to risk going to prison. I really hope it’s not steroids because if it is you are in big trouble. Fix it right now. Do not wait until you are in the gutter. Climbing out of the gutter for a fighter is a recipe for disaster. Have fun, all of you guys. Life is about fun.

The problem but also the thing that makes me respect Conor so much is the fact that he has to risk it all. He always puts everything on the line. And being a fan of Conor’s, it’s so fucking nerve wracking to see him fight

One of the things that really intrigued me in this fight, and I'm no MMA expert or anything, is how Conor didn't maintain his distance that well like he usually does. He's almost always fighting orthodox fighters and coaxes them into throwing the overhand which ultimately misses and he then lands the left hand. In this one however, he abandoned his usual touches with his right hand to gauge distance and got caught by Khabib's overhand which is his signature dodge that culminates into a left hand. Perhaps all that lends credence to the fact that Conor's camp focused mainly on grappling defense for this fight and as a result, in a way, you might say underestimated Khabib's striking or the fact that he might strike whereas Khabib's team seems to have kept this in mind which is why he was able to strike and land the knockdown shot. Just my opinion. Edit: Perhaps this just proves Kavangh's claim that they focused mostly on defense. It was definitely weird how Conor didn't maintain an arm's length like he usually does with other opponents where he's just out of range for them to think they can land but graze past his chin for him to land the left hand.

Im only just seeing this comment but I 110% agree and have said this myself countless times. Everything about Conor in this fight was off. I can also agree that Conor definitely underestimated khabibs striking capability. Not to say he is as good as Conor cus that is far from the truth. Nonetheless Conor did great in this fight & after rewatching it countless times ai can say he did not get mauled like every other bonehead online claims.
