So disciplining yourself, you get to stadium where you are able to manage your emotions and your thoughts, and that is, atleast for me, a big step to joy and fullfilment in a life. I think getting out of your head is tremendous leap forward in your life. Then, you can, as a man, to build every other thing around you inluding: realtionships, frendships, business, family, etc.

I deal with that with my jiu-jitsu. My buddy started doing jujitsu and his mid-20s because he wanted to become a good fighter. I have been intrigued with jujitsu since the first time I seen Royce Gracie fight. Years after I expressed in my buddy how much I would like to learn jiu-jitsu but yet could never get the nerve up to go. One Saturday I went with him to open. Matt and realized it was not what I thought. I'm a former wrestler so I did quite well but I still got choked and beat up... And I loved it! However, I did not stay consistent. I would go to Open Matt's here and there over the next 10 to 12 years. 3 years ago we moved and it was by chance we moved closer to a jujitsu gym that my buddy had helped start. My son is a former wrestler and at that time he was 13. He wasn't wrestling but expressed interest and jujitsu. He is what gave me the motivation to go and start taking actual classes. We went together and after about a year I received my blue belt. It was never my intention to get belted up. I just wanted to expose my son to jiujitsu but through doing that my coach believed that I possessed the skill to be promoted. It completely surprised me! I still deal with a bit of anxiety and apprehension before we go to class but yet I still somehow find the strength to go. The strength is my son!
