Not sure what to be more thankful for... the fact that JRE got me into Sturgill's music, or the fact that Sturgill's music led me to music by Tyler Childers and Colter Wall. Those 3 awesome artists are all I've been listening to for the past few months, and my ears have never been happier

Thanks for having Sturgil on. He is a phenomenal musician. It’s his songwriting prowess. He also has that mojo. He would be one of the guys with cash Nelson haggard. He’s better than the modern country. The best thing about country is the songs. Nashville has the best songwriters. Even the modern artists have cool songs. I just don’t enjoy the way the sound is packaged now a days Sturgil writes and performs at a top level.

I'm not a country fan and I'd never heard of Sturgill Simpson before this interview but really enjoyed listening to him. Cool guy.

After listening to this podcast, I decided to go and listen to some of Sturgill's music... Really amazing. You wouldn't think such a great voice would come from this conversation while listening to them talk, the gentle spoken Kentuckian is a true bard. Great stuff, I really recommend it.

Every now and then there's a jre when joe exposes how little he knows about *so many* things , but it's that openness and sincerity that's so endearing
