I read an article interviewing Tom Cruise a few years ago, and it was pretty favorable, the reporter went to one of his homes and told what they spent the day doing, etc. And then in the last paragraph, he talked about when he was leaving, he was just feeling so good, felt like he and Tom had made a real connection, that he'd got some great material, etc. Then it hit him as Tom turned to go and he walked to his car...he'd never even been invited inside. He spent the whole day with him, outside. And he just thought that was kind of a metaphor for the whole experience--Tom kept his walls up, even while making you feel like he's your best friend. Just stuck with me.

It took some time to get past that for me, but one thing really helped... I started to notice the good in people. The love in a mother’s eyes, a father carrying his child on his shoulders, men offering help to someone in the streets, a person who pays for another’s bill when they haven’t enough money. Seeing those things gives me that sense of belonging to something special sorta like religion used to... only better. I hope that helps you. Big hugs!
