This is actually a very important message from Mr. Diaz. Comedy and comedians are supposed to be the social gadfly of tradition, like Socrates questioning the theology and morals of his day. If we as a culture cant take a little humor, a little prodding and questioning of our beliefs and systems of justice, then there is a foundational problem in the functioning of our society. Comedy should never be censored!
@justinharvie8126 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. And I also feel the same way with music.
@PsychedelicAnxiety Жыл бұрын
Socrates had a point and was extremely polite. Comedians are less worried about behaving a point than they are about funny. Socrates also wanted all entertainment kicked out of the city if it didn’t represent the highest moral standards. He thought it was wrong to show the Gods behaving badly. He would’ve been opposed to comedy. They also had comedy in his day and those people were against Socrates

It's an essential transgressive medium that points out the current absurdities of life . Fair enough everyone has thier red lines and even with comedy there's an understanding that you most likely might get offended especially the blue style comedians which is of course base humour because every human being can relate to it. It is designed to lampoon and even humiliate the so called good and the great. You put too much muzzle on it guess what it either chews through it or looses it's teeth in the process. Comedy is an Oxymoron - it's controlled chaos in an appropriate forum not a TED talk or political soap box. Humour, is an interesting word - 1 to laugh at innanities and absurdities. 2 to tolerate and endure a discomfort or annoyance with grace.
@Shugg-Goff-HHoffical8 ай бұрын
@WeWillAlwaysHaveVALIS no he has a point though, it's not making it loftier that it actually is but there's some truth to the shock tactics. I would say more akin to Diogenes and his antics who was obviously one fucked up individual even for his time.

There's two types of people in this world. The ones that respect you, and the ones that do not. But the one who tells you how not to speak is one that does not respect you. Oh dude he’s amazing. My dad is just like him in a lot of ways and grew up a similar way. He even sounds like him cause he’s been smoking for almost 50 years. I used to be embarrassed when he said politically incorrect shit in public as a kid but now I just laugh. When I found Joey Diaz it was so familiar to me, like I had known him my whole life and I’ve been watching everything he puts out since

I went to the store today and they were giving out free energy drinks. I asked the cashier which flavor he would choose and he said “I’m black so I’d pick grape, we stick to what we know”. I laughed, it’s good to know most of America isn’t so sensitive like the LA liberals.

I just hate the climate we are all living in. Even Rogan has calmed down quite a bit. He isn't nearly as controversial with his thinking. Unfortunately he will be berated by the liberal media if he doesn't act PC. Even when he praises the right nowadays he does it in a very apologetic way. He used to call out his guests a lot more too, now he just goes along with a lot of their bullshit. I like Joe but he does hold back now than he did in the past.
@CommonCentrist826 жыл бұрын
J Abbey I know... He got too big. Pretty much every topic nowadays will offend someone. Even your average person can't go on Facebook and say things even a little controversial. Anyone can lose their job over saying something politically incorrect.
@johnedwards19686 жыл бұрын
He was NEVER controversial, just sympathetic to the anti-SJW, social justice warriors. How that group morphed into what they hate most, is incredibly ironic. How is shaming words like racism, bigotry, feminism not just another form of social justice activism?

Racism is the exclusion of a group based on their ethnicity. Bigotry is intolerance towards a group based on their beliefs. Prejudice is a baseless opinion about a person, or anything really, like a stereotype. To have a baseless opinion about a group of people, such as all black men are well-endowed, is prejudice … not racism.
@lkthree77776 жыл бұрын
Mr. Self I know I’m 4 months late but uhhh the definition of racism is “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.”
