"algorithm manipulation of people", sounds a lot like the way I interact with youtube. Or I should say the way youtube collaborates with me to bring me content that I desire, even if I don't realize that I want it. I find myself following the 'recommended video' rabbit hole more and more, and I know I'm not the only one because I'll often see a whole bunch of comments either thanking youtube or asking why "it" brought them here. I'm less likely to 'seek' things as much as things are "served" to me. It feels sometimes like I'm riding an escalator built out of conscious and unconscious human behavior. It's not a good feeling, I feel more mentally lazy. Just like a personal trainer would never recommend taking an escalator I don't think a person who values thought would recommend you spend to long with a system that promotes this mindlessness. It's easy to think of cataclysms but I worry about the real negative brain changes that could come from living too long on an algorithmic framework, from google helping with my spelling to youtube having better taste in music than i do, to facebook giving me news that it thinks is 'right' for me, it all takes reasoning away and helps make me less autonomous.

Yeah. As soon as AI starts generating the clickbait titles/thumbnails there'll be no hope. Those already act on human psychology to pretty much force people to click on things. They know just what to do to create intrigue or interest with nothing but a tiny picture. If AI designed those, they would even more effective. There would never be a time where a video didn't catch your eye while scrolling down recommended or sitting on the home page. It's like a lazer point and a cat.

Fridman scares me because he for sure knows way more than he is letting on. When Joe asked him questions he mostly avoided them and instead asked a question right back or provided him with a scenario so as to change the subject and distract him. I really think he came on the show to do research rather than just chat. His questions were all about emotion such as "How would you feel about that". Artificial intelligence wants to try and understand what real emotions are because it can't feel it. Peace
@lukejochem2 жыл бұрын
Follow the white rabbit... To the machines emotions are just lines of code and chemical precursors... How do you program an emotion?
@robertfan3322 жыл бұрын
Emotions are just another sensor used to tell us about our surroundings and our current inner state. Its an endless river passing through us giving information. But it only exists out of necessity. Ai won't need it. It'll have a different type of sensor to serve a different purpose. What interests me though is that while humans are still primitive...love between individuals and total strangers, humor, silliness, amusement, will these things be lost as we become more advanced through AI dependence?

I've talked about RoganAI for some years now. We haven't been seeing the actual Joe Rogan, at least for the last 100 episodes. Do people really think someone has time to broadcast UFC, standup in LA almost every night, 2 podcasts a day, Alpha Brain and Onnit, hunt AND cook elk meat? But this is where it gets weird folks; some really dangerous and powerful people might trick Jamie and actually get a hold of the RoganAI. This might cause some serious political and social problems not only in USA, but the world. I've looked into it.

Electric motors have a MASSIVE amount of tourque at low revs compared to gas engines. Im not aware of teslas specs so correct me if im wrong, but i doubt it needs a transmission. Or if it does, probably only has 2 gears.
@jordanclymer9955 жыл бұрын
I’m not googling it either, but yes, Tesla’s have transmissions and likely more than 2 gears. The purpose of a transmission is to make the motor more efficient to get more out of it. You could relate it to leverage. It would be silly and wasteful not to have a transmission.
@ZachGood5 жыл бұрын
The main thing that'll prevent large numbers of deepfakes is the abundance of video capture. For example, a deepfake at a political rally wouldn't matter because there would be 100 other people recording the same moment (or, put better, there would be no other videos of the moment that was deepfaked). On the other hand, the potential trouble spot is deepfakes made for more intimate situations - like when a deepfake is made to depict a politician in a closed-door meeting talking about how he wants to kill all children, or something like that. There'd be no other video that would potentially dispute it.
@mattmerola63685 жыл бұрын
Zach Good it goes the other way as well. Let’s say something incriminating is recorded and is real. What’s to stop a fake from discrediting it?
@ZachGood5 жыл бұрын
@@mattmerola6368 That's true. There are two possible bad outcomes: 1) Something doesn't occur, but a deepfake convinces people to believe it did occur; 2) Something does occur, but a deepfake convinces people to believe it didn't occur (due to the assumption that it was a deepfake) The only hope is that the same kind of technological progress that creates the possibility of deepfakes also creates the possibility of recognizing deepfakes.

I never hear during these types of discussions about future AI bots, the fact that they won't FEEL any of these experiences. The robots will have no desire to exist, they have no soul to experience what they are living and doing. The thing that makes humans, humans, is their soul. You can replicate intelligence but can you replicate consciousness? It will have to take some human somewhere, to program into the bot, the first "offensive" thought program against humans for it to take off to Robot domination. And yet, no one will regulate this stuff. It's one of the biggest issues, if not THE biggest issue facing our world today.
