I can vaguely remember Redbar uncovering a scheme a couple years ago where these podcasters all had joined some new add company that intended to do adds that were “tailored” to the show. As in we don’t just say this is our sponsor but we trick people into thinking our ads are actually spontaneous conversations. This incident seems to tick all the boxes. Instead of just saying “hey this is an ad for whiskey” they lie and trick you into believing he brought it as a gift. They say it is to not break the flow of the show but that is another lie, it is just a way to scheme the audience.
