Also an atheist/ philopsher Tomas Nagle's book "Mind and Cosmos: why the materialist neo-Darwinian conception of nature is almost certainly false" - also based on the math. Once you get through the small religious part, the chemistry is quite solid, and unanswered questions on bio-chemical evolution deafening. The are other really compelling arguments from design (it's everywhere, not just in appearance). Net/net there is good evidence for something more that materialism - I think Joe may have been a bit too baked for this one to edify, funny though.

The proof is there and it’s overwhelmingly obvious. People just disregard it because they want to be able to measure it in a laboratory and discount it when they actually can because of they’re bias background. The Eucharistic miracles and stigmata of padre Pio are examples of miracles being tested my atheistic scientist who later became catholic due to they’re findings. The evidence is within the Catholic Church. A few google searches isn’t enough but it’s a start.

Statistically speaking, kids raised by a single father perform almost as well as kids from first marriage single families (where both mom and dad have not been married before and all children are full blood relations). My father is an attorney who specializes in this stuff, he is the one who cites all these statistics, has reams of research on the subject. It's funny because he used to believe the opposite, would typically insist that kids would do better if they stayed with the mother, but as families repeatedly would get nuked and 80% of divorces are filed by women, he started to really investigate it. The law was his second career, before that he was a scientific researcher.

I have no doubt that traveling around on foot chasing down all of those eyewitnesses to get their stories and correlating them all into a cohesive text could have taken more than 10 years itself. It is no wonder that the final verifiable copies did not turn up for over 20 or 30 years after the events. Then there is also the fact that the romans and the Jews of the times were doing everything in their power to stop the advancement of the Christian movement driving most copies of those texts underground. Your narrative that because we can't trace any actual written text closer than 50 or so years after the events is not prof that it did not happen...

One logical reason for believing in God is morality. Who says that it is wrong to kill or wrong to steal or why should we feed the poor? What is love? Is it just a random collection of chemicals that we adapted to have? Why is it wrong to kill a human but not a fly? Is it because humans are more intelligent so you shouldn’t harm them? What if someone is mentally disabled? Should we hurt them? Why do we have laws? Is it just so society works better and grows better like that or is it because deep down we have a conscience and know that it is absolutely wrong to kill people or to treat people wrong or to do everything only for you. As far as cheistianity and the Bible being true. There is a book called “the spectators guide to world religion” and it explains each major religion of the world and doesn’t bias leaning toward christianity. One thing about Christianity is that most religions is about you earning heaven or receiving eternal through your good deeds or as long as your good outweighs your bad, but true Christianity teaches that we could never be good enough by our own standards and that’s why Christ died for our sins and when we receive Christ we are changed inwardly and our status with God is in good standing. It’s not about just trying to be a good person but about giving your life to Christ and having a transforming moment that makes you desire to be good and love others. It doesn’t mean we will be perfect or good because no matter what we will always have sin or wrong doing but when you’re a Christian you feel bad about doing certain things and desire and strive to be who God wants you to be

The spreading of religious values 2000 years ago where common people lacked logical thinking makes sense. Not to say that some of the greatest philosophers and thinkers weren’t around. Christ displayed universal values that people cherish. So lets not throw the baby out with the bath water. Scientific truth is neglected yet science neglects spiritual truths. Even science is a leap of faith and reading about physicists like schrodinger, albert einstein and many others will prove that. Quantum physics puts into question reality and the laws of physics as we know it. Theses disturbing truths arent as disturbing as embracing universal concepts such as faith, love, forgiveness and so on. Put any of those concepts in scientific terms it will kill the meaning of them entirely. A leap of faith is necessary. You get to choose which leaps you take because we have freewill.

I can not prove the stories did not happen, but from everything humans have ever learned all evidence points toward Donkeys not being able to talk. Men who are thrown into fire burn. A man can not live inside the stomach of a fish swimming around the sea for several days. You can not make a Staff turn into a snake and eat other snakes before turning back into a staff. Flying Chariots of Fire do not exist. A story I like to talk about is Lot and his daughters because it is not referencing any magic or miracles. Two girls are on top of a mountain, in a cave, in the middle of night 3,000 years ago. How can anyone possibly know what they said to each other? It’s impossible to know if they were even there let alone quote their conversation verbatim as the Bible does. Moses is also on top of a mountain alone and talks to god in the form a burning bush correct ? Are we just taking his word on the account? I do not believe there were any witnesses. I’d have to double check that though. The entire world can not flood at the same time as in Noah’s Ark. at least scientifically speaking. Possibly through magic, but we don’t seem to have any solid evidence proving the existence of magic on earth. Humans in the beginning of the Old Testament were living into their 8 and 9 hundreds with methuselah being the oldest man in the Bible at 969 years of age. If you research the worlds oldest person; As far as modern society is concerned it is believed to be Jeanne Calment. A woman from France who lived to 122. No one will say it’s Methuselah. Many more stories like The Tower of Babel or the day the sun did not set or Jesus raising a young girl from the dead all come across as completely fictional. The Bible appears to put the age of the earth at just 6,000 years where science dates it to be at least 2+ Billion most settling around 4.5 billion years. Christians will try and use the great flood to explain the discrepancy but what seems much more plausible is simply that the Bible is a fictional story of mythology. Dinosaurs and Men did not walk the earth in the same time period, but millions of years apart, this contradicts the Bible’s idea that all creatures were created on the same day, and again people of religion can come up with some fantasist way to explain that away also. These along with about 1,000 other stories Would not even be considered to have possibly happened in real life to someone who is not familiar with the religion. Enoch just evaporating into heaven, or The raining of bread 🥖 in exodus 16. We know that it can not rain bread. It has never rained bread and will never rain bread. This is absolutely false, let’s stop pretending that there is even a 0.1% chance that it ever happened. Now if you would like to talk further about my personal issues morally with the Bible feel free to ask because that is a whole different story. I will say most of it is Old Testament passages but to many Christians simply dismiss absolutely horrible stories and act like it’s no big deal. One of the most controversial in my opinion being Judges 11: 29-40 the sacrifice of Jephthah’s young innocent virgin daughter at burnt offering, but there are countless others.
