not a huge fan of IGN I work in the gaming industry and he is 100% right when he says the industry is hyper liberal. I'm afraid if I speak on anything politics my job would be at risk. Even the thought of having a disagreement over the status quo could have implications that could land me unemployed.
@Bigdaddyz7 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised its liberal given the top selling games like GTA, COD, Battlefield, etc... all involve violence although a game like Witcher 3 would never be made in America, kudos to the Poles.
@ChristopherRoss.7 жыл бұрын
I find the industry being hyper-liberal weird, if I'm being honest, because the customer base is so hyper-conservative--for the most part. I find there's definitely a correlation to how 'hardcore' a gamer is (and thus how outspoken they tend to be), to how conservative they are. Its interesting to me that there's so much of a divide there. In fact, the polarization and hostility from one side to the other leading up to, particularly during, and the fallout from the gamergate controversy has really turned me off of gaming. To a point where I don't want to associate with the term any more. Where an entire art medium has been ruined for me.

Chris McCartney well it's where the company's are based, and the people who have slithered in to positions of power. This also stems from marketing who's soul job is not to offend anyone and keep the hype train alive so of course they are going to want to show everyone how progressive their company is by being as diverse as possible. it's so intertwined that it seems like if you aren't on the diversity wagon you are costing the company money.
@Failbot90007 жыл бұрын
Bigdaddyz I fully agree and it was a very interesting time, looking at all of the HR stuff popping up about ethics and the huge push for diversity which got a lot of people fired. The dust has settled and now dissent of opinion is enough to put a target on your back.

Any good points he makes about government overreach and centralizing power is lost in this denying of science and alex jones level of fear mongering, and since the election its gotten so much worse. I'm a registered democrat and even I think that things have become overly politically correct. Like the recent Battlefield V controversy. When people dared criticize it's depiction of a woman in the game, they were quickly labeled as sexist or misogynist, or that they knew nothing about history. I don't think any rational person disputes that women were important in WWII. They were transport pilots, flight nurses, Spys, laborers, etc. The soviet union had 2,000 female snipers not to mention the all female Nightwitches. The British SOE iirc had about 60 women. But do any of them get the recognition they are due? Nope, instead what they opt to present is a contrived made up bunch of bs. The problem is they depicted the woman in the trailer as having a prosthetic arm and blue face paint which is utterly ridiculous. If you had a prosthetic in the US you would have been classed as 4F solely on that alone. If you lost a limb in WWII the war was pretty much over for you as you would have been sent home for more thorough treatment and long term rehabilitation/therapy. They wouldn't have sent you back into the meat grinder. They would have used fresh troops i.e. replacements to bolster units that had taken casualties. Then there was the British guy with a nodachi and they all were wearing face paint. Were we watching Braveheart or a trailer for Battlefield V? If they had put a dinosaur on the cover people wouldn't have been upset because they hated dinosaurs. They would have been upset because it just looked out of place. Never mind the fact that in a trailer a guy picks up a grenade and tosses it to have a friendly shoot the grenade to take out an aircraft.

Great Interview. I'd never even heard of Colin until last week, and I will now be a lifetime subscriber to his "Last Stand" channel. One point of disagreement with Joe. I don't feel bad at all for all those writers who are "forced" to lie and use libelous, ridiculous hyperbole in their articles. Everyone has a choice, always, and when you submit and play that vile game of social justice journalism you give it a validity that it in no way deserves. If there are so many writers out there who truly find such dishonesty and deceit to be morally repugnant then they should band together and start their own news sources that counter these cowardly, fascist scumbags with truth and ethics and integrity.

i'd probably skew center liberal if there is such a thing, but this whole Colin thing (Avid fan of KF and Colin) with the tweet is kinda ridiculous (pun maaaaybe intended). It was a joke, it was whatever i didn't really look too much into it, then all of a sudden BOOM hes gone. I think its really just ridiculous to focus on such a ridiculous thing when there are so many more important issues running around and while Political Correctness / Mutual respect for others has its place, if you cant take this level of joke, your only hurting the cause and de-legitimizing true Liberal thought exchange. Not everyone finds it funny, but no one should find something that benign offensive. Good luck Colin and thank you for the healthy perspective

I liked watching Game Scoop and NVC, and felt like some of the older guys were good at at keeping it professional like Daemon and Sam. Felt really annoyed when the younger ones were more open about their liberal opinions, like Jonathan Dornbush calling JK Rowling being problematic. I can't forgive a company run by German, Peer Schneider, for planting that flag.

i disagree with something joe said.... i live in an office environment where i'm not free to be myself....and when i see people like chapelle and other comedians and offensive shows i DONT wanna stop them. i enjoy them quite a lot........so yeah, some of the special snowflakes might be office dwellers.....but not all(probably not even many) office dwellers are special snowflakes....we're just restricted while we're at work...
