Hell, even a woman with relatively high testosterone won't have as much as a man with lower levels of T. Testosterone is produced in men by the testicles. Women produce testosterone, but NOWHERE NEAR at the levels that a man with semi-functional balls do. If women had the same levels, they would have facial hair, bone density, and muscle mass at the same levels as men. They would also cease to menstruate and loss their fertility. I sleep better, feel better, have a more clear and positive outlook, and I have energy to get up and hit the gym and look better now than I did 5 years ago. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone over 40 for sure.

As anti-aging technology grows the discussion of it for aging athletes is going to grow as well. The millennials may be the last generation to accept declining with age as a standard.
@lolcano23463 жыл бұрын
TRT is not really an anti-ageing therapy in any strict sense. Things like test levels and NAD+ levels decline with age for a reason.. most likely to avoid things like caner and over-stressing things like the cardio-vascular system. Having high range test all your life and in later years probably speeds up the ageing process.. even if it feels like it's doing the opposite for a while
@jpm4083 жыл бұрын
@@lolcano2346 never thought of it that way and it makes alot of sense. I am 46 and thinking of taking TRT for increased energy. It may speed up aging but i believe if you diet, excercise and sleep well and just take good care of your body it could keep you younger with increased energy. Balance is key.
@lolcano23463 жыл бұрын
@@jpm408 Of course balance is key. Having low testosterone may result in age related issues progressing as well. Exactly how much for a given person is the question. People who seem to be higher in androgen levels seem to benefit in some ways but lose out in others One over-arching theme that David Sinclair always comes back to is that performance and longevity are mutually exclusive things in biology. You optimize one at the expense of the other Makes sense, in a general sense- performance equals ramped up cellular activity/replication (growth) and an increased metabolism where as longevity typically values a slower metabolism and an extended cell life cycle (slower rate of cell turn over in tissues). This is due to the fact that a cell can only divide so many times in a tissue before it becomes terminal Perhaps this is why athletes appear to age badly and athletes jacked up on steroids seem to do even worse David Sinclair on the other-hand looks very young for his age but he's obviously about as athletic as a wet noodle His entire lifestyle is based around eating as little as possible and only pushing his body as far as is necessary to avoid a sedentary lifestyle being a problem His 80 something year old dad is apparently fitter and stronger than him lol

@lolcano23463 жыл бұрын
@@jpm408 also worth considering that people have been reporting reversal of age related declines in hormone production with NMN. Many woman have claimed to have reversed their menopause entirely back into menstruation with the stuff. Of course this would be rather amazing if true If there actually is something to these claims then it would seem reasonable to suppose that NMN could possibly do the same for andropause (age related decline in testosterone in males) If true then perhaps this might give you a better option for addressing your test levels than TRT. At the very least you might not have to rely so heavily on TRT I bring this up because TRT is a life time commitment once you're on it if I'm not mistaken. Seems like fixing your bodys natural hormone production would be the way to go if it's actually a viable option Seems like a good general rule full stop, fixing your bodies natural production of a thing is probably always going to be better than simply introducing that thing to the body artificially Having said that, taking NMN seems no different to taking TRT in that regard haha Food for thought anyway Hope it all goes well what ever you end up doing :)

Some disadvantages of taking external testosterone, that needs to be mentioned also: 1. Shuts off and possibly destroys the signal-function in the brain, that is used to control and adjust the test levels produced by the testicles naturally. Making you dependent on external testosterone...mostly a concearn if you don't have a medical reason(testosterone levels within normal ranges for your particular age and life style) , before jumping on trt. 2. You have to worry about always having access to testosteren for the rest of life. Situations like virus epidemics/nature catastrophies/wars and other un-planned events could make it very stressful to keep supplies incoming. 3. Aside from regular injections of test, you also have to get blodtests done in a planned periodic manner. Increased blood thickness/psa values etc. needs to get checked, when on testosterone. 4. Speeds up certain aging processes and organs... your body ages quicker with increased hormone levels....the dose will determine by how much. You can't have the best of everything! ;-)

Ya there’s cancer and heart risks as well. However it’s kind of pros and cons, if it improves quality of life and you monitor maybe it’s worth it. Get your sleep right, take vitamin d as if it were TRY religiously, lift weight, clean up diet, and learn to meditate from buddhists. Also your test (on average) is lowest at 35 and stays that way. Exercising consistently, eating very healthy and supplementing certain nutrients in a semi random, but semi consistent way, losing fat (but not too much), meditating and learning other ways to deal with stress and anger, and sleeping better consistently, will in combo help most men to naturally regain higher levels of T. (maybe also avoiding plastic use and some other things?). But that is hard to do when you area already low T. I'm in my mid 40's and definitely feeling lower T. I don't want to go on TRT because it is expensive (especially if you don't have insurance), potentially health affecting in a negative sense (if you're not dosed right etc), and most importantly--if you're not taking other things, it shuts down your natural production. I've decided to try kiss peptin for a little while to see if it helps. It avoids a lot of the potential negative side effects, and is much, much lower cost. I can buy 5 mg for around 50 dollars, and at my weight, that will last me almost 8 months (at twice a week injections, which I plan to start at, and increase to 3 if only needed). But I don't plan to take it that long anyways. I just want to try it for the next few months during the winter/early spring, as I tend to have higher T and feel better from mid spring to early fall period (some of that is likely greater sun exposure and being more active). I could stand to lose 30lbs or so. I feel like once I lose that weight, while exercising more consistently and getting better sleep, a lot of lower T issues of lower energy/motivation will correct itself more naturally, and I won't need to be on anything long term. I really don't want to be dependent on something outside of myself. I have the diet part down already. I eat really healthy consistently. I have the stress management mostly down. Just need to work on the exercise and better sleep more.

My testosterone was low 200s and now I’m over 900, I don’t workout, much I’ve kept most of the muscle size, and I have tons of energy, my sex drive is like I’m taking viagra every day. I feel overall really amazing compared to before. It’s somewhat harder to gain fat. I recommend it to those who want to feel like they’re 18 again.

TRT is not all unicorns and rainbows. Testosterone therapy has various risks, including: 1) Worsening sleep apnea - a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts. 2) Causing acne or other skin reactions. 3) Stimulating noncancerous growth of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and growth of existing prostate cancer. 4) Enlarging breasts. 5) Limiting sperm production or causing testicles to shrink. 6) Stimulating too much red blood cell production, which contributes to the increased risk of forming a blood clot. A clot could break loose, travel through your bloodstream and lodge in your lungs, blocking blood flow (pulmonary embolism). 7) Hair loss

You need medical advice in order to be in it and also while on it You have go get your blood work done pretty much every 90 days to 180 days and adjust has necessary plus you have to be a good candidate to be on TRT, when everything is fine it’s a no brainer… it is unicorns and rainbows But I suggest on medical professional advice and monitor

I've never been in any competitive sports, but always enjoyed nutrition, clean living, and keeping up on good nutrition. I am really focused and aware of hormone levels and balance. I'm gonna be 58 years old in April; many say I look 10 years younger. I can't really remember how great I felt when I was in my 20s, but sometimes, do to my lack of nutritional knowledge and overtraining at the time, I had some pretty low and unenergetic times. If I remember correctly, I actually feel better now than I did in my 20s. That could be owed to the fact that I am very health conscious and know a hell of a lot about nutrition and exercise. I'm not a huge guy, but look great for a person who only uses nutrition, sleep, stress management, and exercise with proper recuperation between work outs. I gauge my hormone levels on sex drive and morning wood. Things that I have noticed in age: Sex drive can change drastically from week to week due to sleep and/or stress levels. When I was younger, it didn't matter. When I went through a devastating life issue, I lost all sex drive for two or three months; that would never happen if I was 20 yrs old. I have to eat properly to keep my sex drive up. Raw vegetables and "root" type plants are a requirement for higher hormones; not so at 20 yrs old. I am a firm believer in keeping things natural. I have always maintained my physique. In the last 3 years I have been working out and trying to gain muscle. Although I have always gained very slowly, no matter what age, I am able to gain about 1 lb to 2lb per year lately which is added to lagging areas. I owe this to a very strict diet. In short, I like to do what I can while I am able to do it naturally. When I stop being able to naturally enjoy the pleasures of sex, and I start feeling the effects of a low hormonal level, at that time I would definitely look at TRT. I feel that putting it off for as long as possible is the better way to go. I just feel that there is so much you can do with your lifestyle to keep your hormone levels high and balanced. I fukng love these podcasts. You have some great guests that have awesome information.

I've never understood why there is so much stigma around TRT. Why is it controversial for someone with low T to get therapeutic doses to get into the normal range without being labeled a cheater or a roid head? Either you take T or suffer from severe depression and mental/physical ailments or feel like a normal healthy man. I don't understand why it's banned in sports either if the levels are in the normal range. It's like telling someone with cerebral palsy they can't get corrective surgery or they're a cheater.

I'm 25 been on TRT for 3 weeks, never felt better. I was in good shape, I eat healthy, but I had horrible anxiety, even in the gym. Felt off. Went to a TRT clinic just to get my levels looked at. When I think about panic attacks and bad anxiety.. I think hormones. I was by far the youngest person their lol but they let me know this isn't a game. The chances of me getting TRT was really low. But after a month of getting done bloodwork every week and various other tests. My free T was around 3 ng/ml so here I am.
