Nick is spot on. VA can be awful. Once, I was having a host of GI issues ( constant unmanageable heart burn, nausea, etc), VA nurse sent me a secure message saying it was covid. I knew this was bs, doordashed a test kit, negative. That night, I went to the Ft Cambell ER. It turns out my gall bladder was about to burst open. Immediately took me in for surgery to remove it. Question everything the VA does or recommends, especially meds.

Canadian here. Our "free" health care don't really care for us either, lots of doctors are pill pusher. A year ago I requested a blood test because I have all the signs of low T, number came back 360 which is the low acceptable end of the scale, doc told me to change my diet & send me off with two prescriptions. Prescriptions did nothing other than upsetting my gut. So this year I visited a pay-for service clinic and the blood test came back supporting my initial complaints. They recommand I consider TRT which is what I will be starting in the new year. This is exact reason why I would be in support of privaticed health care.

Now to preface this long story I wasn’t in combat anything bad I saw was in garrison, but I was struggling after I got out depressed, hated living, was having a hard time in the civilian side of things, and the VA did exactly what he said they gave me SSRIs and everytime I’d go in I’d say “hey these make me hear voices and they don’t fix anything” my “therapist” never tried to help with my issues and would instead recommend a higher dosage. So after the third time of being told “you aren’t hearing anything take a higher dose” I gave up on that. I didn’t want medicine anyways I wanted the tools to fix myself. So medicine, therapy, exercise, anything didn’t work. I just continually felt like an outsider and that I just wasn’t cut out for being a person. Then I saw the video nick k posted about all his symptoms and getting on trt fixing them. Well I had all those symptoms so I decided to give it a shot and when it finally kicked in (when you first start some folks will have moments where it shines through then goes back to normal but after awhile it’ll take full effect and you’ll feel normal everyday) I damn near was moved to tears, life had its flavor back. The weight was off of my shoulders. I don’t want you to think it’s a magic cure all but if you don’t know at least get tested to see your testosterone levels and see if it’s viable for you I went from 230 to 960 and i feel like living again.
@Brandonnn916422 күн бұрын
It is funny though my primary care provider at the VA tried to talk me out of it this morning I told her I did the research, had multiple test through the VA and core medical showing 230~ I mulled it over for a few months and my only regret is not starting sooner. Her response was “well we like to see at least two test and I don’t think we can trust an outside group to do an accurate blood test, plus you are only 26 you shouldn’t need testosterone” it hit me like telling someone with diabetes “you shouldn’t need insulin” yes I know that, that’s why I’m taking the medicine to fix it. So once again the Va has proven my opinion of them, they aren’t bad (evil) they just don’t care usually

Problem with trt is mainly supply. If a world event should happen, i.e another "leaked virus" or worse WW3 that disrupts supply chains you're going to have a nation with a large part of the male population with crashed endocrine systems and worse. And if you thought your depression was bad before trt that will have seemed like a cakewalk. But, live in the moment as well and don't worry about future scenarios that may never happen.

They may not be directly paying for those prices but they are paying for overpriced healthcare through their taxes and getting sub standard care for the value. My coworker is from Canada and had appendicitis. Went to the doctor in Canada and they didn't know what was wrong and couldn't get him an MRI for weeks. His appendix encapsulated and he felt better. He moved to the US and then had more issues. He immediately got an MRI and figured out what happened. Had his appendix removed. His comment on US healthcare was "I can't believe how fast it is!" As an American I have never gone to the doctor and thought it was fast. How bad does healthcare in Canada have to be for him to think that?

@@10Sethg nothing is perfect anywhere that is what growth is about. There are always "I have a friend" anticdotes about Canada and the UK and the VA, but the fact is there are Millions of people here in the U.S who have gone bankrupt because of our preditory broken medical system. A system that clearly separates the "haves and the Have nots" so let's just agree that regular U.S. citizens who could not withstand a $400 emergency as they are living paycheck to paycheck, would be happy to have some sort of socialized medicine. And not go into medical bankruptcy due to an illness. let's also say that if our taxes were appropriated properly, and we were not getting taxed three times over (sales, state, and federal.)or maybe we still are but with those taxes we could have a solid medical system. Also if the wealthy were taxed the same as we regular folk we could also afford to take care of everyone's health preemptively rather than only AFTER people are already ill. This is a whole broken system that needs to be fixed and doing things to help people is not communism and people are not freeloading,people need good healthcare because taking care of the working class, working poor and middle class is the right thing to do. It keeps people happy and healthy and with healthy happy people comes a healthy economy.

I’m not an ungrateful person. I’m a proud patriot and I love my country but the VA is as incompetent as you hear, even worse so. They fully do not understand what the SOF community even does day to day, and don’t believe it when they hear it. GWOT veterans have so many autoimmune diseases, cancer, and mental health issues it’s unreal….if the VA/DOD were honest with what health issues they know about internally are affecting us no one would join. Head injuries/ blast trauma have damaged so many brains…not just in combat , but training it’s unfathomable.

The fact is TRT will absolutely give great results but once started it has to be continued rest of the life also there are several side effects associated with TRT!! There have been several instances when men who stopped taking TRT their body's natural testosterone production went down drastically leading to very adverse consequences

not true.. i was on for 10 years... stopped now for 9 months. Simply 1 tab of enclominphene citrate a day.
@Chris-vt6nl2 ай бұрын
@@the42nd actually it's true there have been cases of men who's natural testosterone production almost shut down after they started TRT and did not get back to normal after stopping it!! The drug you take are you taking under doctor supervision or on your own? The problem with it is side effects I hope you're aware of it
@the42nd2 ай бұрын
@@Chris-vt6nl I took for 10 years. No need a doctor its simple pharmacology and I took my time to study that and ease my way in. I got 100% shutdown also of course, but it's highly unlikely your system won't restart. You may not produce sperm (or enough to conceive), but you will begin to produce T again.
@NickKoumalatsos822 ай бұрын
Chris, You are getting your facts messed up here. It won't completely shut down your natural production but it will lower it. This is why its crucial to work with a clinic like Core Med that prescribes amplifying meds that assist with this. If any doctor just gives you a Test and walks away, be very concerned. Now as far as it not coming back. 1st if they qualify to be on TRT then it was low in the first place, typically its because age (it naturally starts to drop after 30) or they have type 1 or 2 hypergonadism. So getting on and coming off isn't really an issue. What you are referring to is someone who does not need it getting on it unmanaged and then coming off of it. Let me know if you need help or have any other questions.
@Chris-vt6nl2 ай бұрын
@@NickKoumalatsos82 I'm not messing up anything I'm stating what will happen if TRT is stopped there have been documented instances of it not my imaginary self stated facts. I would advice you to watch doctor sam robbins channel he explains everything about TRT he's a medical expert
