Joe Vitale of the movie, The Secret, reveals that Napoleon Hill's book 'Think and Grow Rich' was actually a sales letter. Where did Hill reveal the real formula to success?
UPDATE:
According to Wikipedia...
"In 1937, author Napoleon Hill published his book Think and Grow Rich which went on to become one of the best selling books of all time, selling over 60 million copies. In this book, he discusses the importance of controlling your own thoughts in order to achieve success, as well as the energy that thoughts have and their ability to attract other thoughts. In the beginning of the book, Napoleon Hill mentions a "secret" to success, and promises to indirectly describe it at least once in every chapter of the book. It is never named directly for he says that discovering it on one's own is far more beneficial. Many people have argued over what the secret actually is, with some arguing that it was the Law of Attraction."
I agree.

I would say: think for the end. Believe you already there, and you will be. I did that for my travels, for my work, for my projects, it never fails. When Belief becomes Knowing, nothing can stop you. The only thing: be constant at your routine. If it is only to visualize one thing, do it every day, for several minutes. You will get there. Just believe or better : KNOW you will get there.

After reading Think and Grow Rich many time over the years my take on Think and Grow rich is this: Clarity of your goal is so important. Decide what it is you want, develop a plan to obtain it, go to work on that plan with MASSIVE ACTION and a passionate, driving, burning Obsession to accomplish that which you seek. Persist until you have accomplished your goal no matter what obstacles arise. Allow no persons opinion, no influence to dwell in your being that does not harmonize with your Purpose.

Joe, the Secret is in the book and I discovered it around 2am in 1996 while in my college dorm room listening it to audio.Hill even states that the secret is more powerful if it is uncovered on your own. The "secret" he said is touched upon on every chapter of the book, and the secret is on the TITLE of the book, "Think".Thoughts are things and are like magnets. What we think about we become or don't become. He later said that this was the secret in the last chapter of Magic Key to Riches.

I can honestly say it's changed my life,It's just so potent with food for thought...it goes into so much depth! Much more depth than Think and Grow Rich, I highly recommend it!

One of Hills most powerful books is Outwitting The Devil. This was clearly one of the most specific of his books which gets to the root of most people`s problem in that we don`t use our own minds for our benefit. Hill calls it having Definite Purpose.

Yes the secret is in this book. It just isnt named as Law of Attraction. And the mastermind group isnt a bunch of people ( as I first thought), it is your higher self/source energy which he is talking about. If you dont understand this book, read Ask and It Is Given by Abraham-Hicks. This will help you understand Think and Grow Rich easier. It helped me once I knew the LOA through studying Abraham-Hicks material..

I think the book does contain the secret to get rich, but its important to know that the book is full of secrets. Napoleon Hill knew that he could not get into detail for several topics I think because no one would beleave him at that time but this man was brilliant, a genius.

Napoleon talks about a BURNING DESIRE, and how all desires in Humans will eventually express a means of physical expression. Our strongest desires are sex, food, thirst and we can create an obsession in our minds for a goal until it becomes a BURNING DESIRE.

The Secret starts with this clue in the introduction , "All achievement, all earned riches have their beginning in an IDEA!" thats the 1st clue, Andrew Carnegie put the IDEA in his mind as a young boy to write and study for 25yrs the successful people and share their stories and make a legacy based on his IDEA of writing, Napoleon then says “The secret to which I refer has been mentioned no fewer than a hundred times, throughout this book” IDEA.IDEA.IDEA.IDEA. IDEAS MAKE RICHES, FAITH, DESIRE,IMAGINATION,PERSISTENCE ARE THE INGREDIENTS TO Mr Carnegie's Magic Formula: THE SECRET

I have been in sales for over 20 years. Throughout those years I had come across the name Napoleon Hill. I never knew anything about him. There is a saying about "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear". Last month I came across the two hour Think and Grow Rich video on KZbin. I was literally electrified listening to Mr. Hill speak. I fell as if all of the pieces of my life are falling into place now. I owe a huge debt to Napoleon Hill. I will pay him back by living a better life.

Thank You , Mr.Vitale for sharing this information in my life. I was able to read the Laws of Success 1928 version a few years ago. Then I went through a really depressive years in my life until this year. Then I read the Original 1925 manuscripts of the Law of Success and it help me cleared key concepts that were not really discussed in a clear way in the 1928 version. The Law of Success 1925 is the greatest success book I have ever read.

The book "The Laws of Success" was written by Napoleon Hill, prior to "Think and Grow Rich." In The laws of Success, he mentions "The law of attraction." There is a rumor of Henry Ford leading the way to have TLOS removed from public. The reason being, power to the people = loss of personal power. In summary, "The law of success" was taken off the bookshelves in that time and "Think and Grow Rich" was put out instead. btw, you can get both books now. :P----Henry Ford

Sorry joe im not with you on this one. Hill has hidden the secret in think And grow rich. I found it by accident and like he said it's has more of an effect if its not said straight out. We all would have heard this in some song and not really paid attention. I realised the answer when I read the story where the little girl wanted 50 cents and could have got killed for arguing with a superior. When I put myself in her position it clicked and I saw the answer in every chapter.

J. Paul Getty is, to my knowledge, one of the only truly uber-rich people to have actually written his own guidelines on how to become wealthy (n a chapter of his book, "How to Be Rich"). He stressed single-minded dedication, a willingness to sacrifice one good aspect of life for another, hard work, and yes, luck as several of the attributes needed. I do not recall him endorsing thinking positive thoughts, visualization, having belief, or other actions that typically are packaged with these.

I have thought about this for a very long time - I understand the value for a lot of people that lies in this book - and the Law of Success -that Napoleon Hill wrote - but the wealthiest person so far in the world has been and still is based on how much money he had in relationship to the Gross National Product of the United States at the time - was John D. Rockefeller - even Carnegie who introduced the contents of this book to Napoleon Hill never had this book - what did these two use?

I have read both of Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" and "15 Laws of Success" as well as other publications from him. After reading both more then 10 times it is clear that "Think and Grow Rich" and "15 Laws of Success" are almost identical. Mr. Vitale says that "Think and Grow Rich" "doesn't reveal the secret". However, it does, in fact a lot of the material in "15 Laws of Success" is an exact copy of "Think and Grow Rich". The key difference between the two is 15 Laws is more in depth in the applications of Hill's principles. Basically, Grow Rich is Hill's proof of concept and 15 Laws is the exact how.

Great review and perspective, Joe. I find that a great many people who love and recommend TAGR have actually never read -- or even discovered -- "The Laws of Success", the larger work on which TAGR is based. Incidentally -- and just as an aside -- I cannot find where Hill ever used the term "law of attraction" in any of his works. I know there are several edited versions of his book available so it's possible it's just not in any of mine.

i think think and grow rich is his best book but if you are really serious about it then read laws of sucess too. and then read the master key to riches, and then read grow rich with peace of mind. and most importantly read 'the wisdom of andrew carnegie' it is hills original interview with carnegie. and then you will see that carnegie already had the formula precisely worked out and he gave it to hill 20 odd years before hill came out with TAGR. carnegie was one amazing dude.

Also, consider buying T"The power of your subconscious mind" By Dr. Joseph Murphy and "How to win friends and influence people".. You should be great with those if TGR doesn't work for you but i STRONGLY SUGGEST you go back to TGR with an open mind and find out the problem. Good luck.
