Joe I was drafted and sent to Vietnam as an infantry grunt in 1968. I was wounded nine months in to my tour. When I got hit it instantly paralyzed and I couldn't move my legs. I knew I was hurt bad enough to go home. At the time we had are battalion commander with our company. He had his own personal house trailer that he would have the helicopter guys fly his trailer out to different firebases like ours where he'd spend a few days. All this crap he pulled was called TOC ( Tactical Operations Command ). The man was a gong ho commander who wanted his men in combat. I was on a stretcher waiting for a medivac flight out of this hell. I couldn't help it and laid in to that ass and what I thought of him. My buddies said they tried to convince him I was delirious. He got even with me and pretty much cleared my DD 214 of any metals that I had been awarded. Nothing heroic just medals you get for places you had been etc. I was discharged from the Army and sent to Hines VA hospital in Maywood, Illinois. About a month laid up at the VA the Army called and said they had a Purple Heart to present me. Did I want them to come and pin it on me or mail it. I told them to mail it. I hope to see you in 2022 Vetsaid, I'll be there. Sorry for making this so long but its been 53 years ago and first time I have ever told it.

What the hell, let's make it about ME. I was toiling for the pirates of lighting from Winterland Productions setting up the Rose Bowl for the last Hell Freezes Over show, and got to watch a guy do a full Homer Simpson scaffolding fall from deck to deck all the way from 80 feet up where the scrim of the Rocky Mountains lived down to the stage. He dusted himself off and went back to work. I recall that they only lit that up for the one song, several long days for a crew of guys to put it there.

All due respect and I love his music, but this is the problem with getting politics from baby boomer rock stars. Their minds are half gone and they want to relate everything to the '60s. Firstly, no one ever said to send the national guard out to the protests. They wanted the national guard to go out to the riots where local enforcers were allowing the destruction of their cities. Neither BLM or Antifa/Black Bloc are fighting for civil rights. In the sixties, you had videos of police brutalizing marchers. Today, you have videos of the radical marchers brutalizing anyone who doesn't agree with them. Secondly, for some reason all these people who were around at the time forget that Joey B was pro segregation as well as the Clinton crime bill. There will be no healing with this man in office or the women who will replace him when they take him out to the woods.
