Boy Joe sure had a hell of an audience that night. I remember way back in March 1977 when I saw Weather Report in St. Petersburg Fla. The sound guy ruined the concert it sounded like Mud! Thank God every member did an individual solo. Jaco Pastorious destroyed my mind that night. He truly did. I kept telling myself " You can't do that on a Bass ". So I went home picked up my Fender Jazz Bass and was bewildered wondering how Jaco got those sounds. The funny thing was the first pro band I was in had Bobby Herzog who wrote " Come On Come Over " on drums and vocals. Plus I played in Ft. Lauderdale with a slew of guys who all knew and played with Jaco. I missed meeting him so many times it wasn't funny. Played with lots of other big heavy players tho so it's all good.

C'est vrai que l'on voit bien qu'ils sont tous très attentifs aux directions du maitre. C'est vraiment une très très belle grooverie comme il en existe de trop rares je trouve. Il existe une autre version de Scarlet Woman datant des 70's ou 80's avec Alex Acuna à la batterie et Pastorius à la basse qui est vraiment très bien également. Je peux me tromper mais de mémoire la version de l'époque n'est pas shuffle contrairement à celle-ci ;) - Paco Sery à vraiment un swing absolument parfait sur cette version et aussi sur la version de Indiscretions du temps où Richard Bona était à la basse, Manolo Badrena aux percussions. Dans les deux cas les guitaristes groovent à merveille.

Ciao Paolo. Sono d'accordo con tè; ero e sono ancora un garnde fulminato dai Weather Report, ma quelli con Jaco Pastorius. Io ho visto il famoso documentario sulla vita di Jaco raccontata da chi lo conosceva bene e ci suonava assieme. Ho scoperto che il nostro bravo Joe Zawinul, quando ha visto che Jaco lo superava, ha cominciato a trattarlo molto male, cercava di sminuirlo solo per invidia. Jaco era uno buono e sensibile e chiedeva spesso a Joe cosa ne pensasse della musica che stava scrivendo e suonando (Word Of Mouth). Questo, oltre alla diagnosi di "sdoppiamento della personalità accellerata" di cui soffriva jaco, lo ha poi portato a rifugiarsi nell`alcool. Sinceramente si evince che in pochi hanno cercato di aiutarlo piu di tanto; poi è finita molto male per Jaco. Zawinul era un grande musicista ma pure un grande invidioso nei confronti del MIGLIOR BASSISTA DEL MONDO, nome vero John Francis Anthony Pastorius III. Questa è la verita vera.

@@hjakroon123 well i do not know if there is "fraud" my friend but let’s try to put it this way : what if what they played or even composed after mercy mercy was what they or he HAD in mind ? This without thinking of any "musical fraud" or any other interest ? something like they wanted it to sound like that whatever people could think of it ? Miles Davis kinda used to be like that and many more like him that do not like to play old stuff but moving on... A Guy like Chris Walden says he does not even listen to his fresh recorded albums but once for all. So at the end i don't know because all these opinions are so subjective (fraud/no fraud) and behind the sentences, we have to consider « the other’s desire or will when he expresses himself/herself » like : « i wanna hear this & that + i don’t like this & that » which i totally agree. But all subjective my friend … all subjective
