I have the last model of the 4.0 V8 S6 (68 plate), with the same engine, 450bhp, I bought the car with 8k miles (one owner) during lockdown for £31k. As I drove away I from the dealership I felt like I should have been wearing a balaclava, like I had robbed them. Probably the best buy I will ever make. An absolutely incredible machine.

Love the S8! It’s such a sleeper car. Had a previous gen. A6 and only had it 2 weeks when the dashboard rattle started. Brought the car into the dealer and they fixed it in an hour or so. Told me that it was a loose speaker clip. It never rattled after that 👍

Looks and sounds amazing. Makes me miss my A6. I’ve been driving BMWs for a few years because they’re faster and cheaper (in my experience) but I still love the big Audis.

BMW’s are cheaper you say? Not a chance! Maybe you are referring to the non M cars and suvs. But yeah, BMW’s are in no ways cheap. And I’m not saying they totally blow Audi away in the luxury category. In fact on the contrary Audi arguably has the slightly nicer interior than other German vehicles. So there Audi fan boys and girls, 😂.

Love the S8 my only gripe and dealbreaker is the touchscreens. I absolutely hate touchscreens in cars, fingerprints, scratches, glare, and many manufacturers don’t know how to make good intuitive software for them. Give me a screen but also give me a dial/buttons to control things.

The A8 is just a nice comfortable luxury limo, but when you put that VW Group 4.0L V8 in that car and give it some performance, then it turns into an absolute beast as the S8. It's a car that's comfortable and sporty. This S8 is absolutely no joke with that 571 HP and 800 Nm of torque. And 0-60 in 3.8 seconds is a complete lie, since I saw Mat Watson get 3.2 seconds with this very same car, which is just mental.

Had a '13 S8 that I NEVER should have sold! Luxury rocket ship with all wheel drive. Driving an '21 SQ7 now which I love, but the S8 was/is just a special vehicle.

It seems a common complaint about Audi the dash having a rattle, it's not just the S8. My BMW 7 Series is very solidly put together. I'm curious if the adaptive suspension also includes the anti-roll bars to keep the car level? BMW 7 Series has the adaptive suspension, but it's an optional extra for the self leveling called executive drive.

Joe, Thank you for being so honest about the hideous new BMW 7! I’m so So SO DISAPPOINTED with the redesign…and I have a 2022 BMW 750 X-Drive now… Sadly once the lease is done I’m going to find another vehicle…so sad… I’m not interested in driving an iPad..I want buttons!! Classy, sophisticated, SAFE buttons! And a design that doesn’t make me think the designers were high on LSD when they sketched it out!

Love the rear. Front is ok. Dash is the dealbreaker. Shiny black plastic and screens all over. What a mess. No arguments with the motor, tranny, or driving dynamics. But you have to deal with that ocean of dust, glare, and fingerprints on the dash and I'm not wealthy enough to not care about that. Thanks for the review!

After I had an audi a8 d5 which has broken dozens of times i bought an s8 d5 facelift that the alternator broke down while driving and it no longer charges(no brake, no steering) thank God that I was able to stop him in time on the highway… lemon cars advice don t buy an audi or a vag product

I'm very envious of non-North American markets having the choice of a standard wheelbase car, as I feel the standard A8 is the perfect length sedan; A6 being too shorth, and the A8L looks awkwardly long. It's almost inevitable that moving forward, you only choice will be the A8L, as even BMW discontinued the standard wheelbase 7 series, another car which I felt was the perfect length.

i have an Audi A6 Quattro C8 and i had issues with a rattling sound in the dashboard. After taking it into Audi a couple times they fixed the issue. They said under the dash the sealant was not on properly and they re-sealed it to prevent parts from hitting eachother.

Apparently the director who got the actors including Robert De Niro to film many of the driving scenes themselves said two things to them first... 1. Don't kill yourselves & 2. I would go crazy if the dashboard was making noise like that. I have a my A6 C6 13 years now from new, and have put 450k on it and there is not a squeeze or rattle from it. Quality has dropped over the years.

Great review Joe👍😀. Bad effort Audi, acres and acres of black shiny plastic, shows every speck of dust ,every fingerprint and just looks incredibly cheap and tacky. Audi needs to seriously look at why their designers insist on black interior and exterior trim elements, the wheels on this car look like cheap aftermarket replacements! In summary, a very capable car, unfortunately Audi needs to up its game massively re the design details.

S class has an attractive interior. So does Porsche. Volvo is fantastic but their steering wheel sucks...felt like hard plastic you get on children's toys. I guess they have to cut costs somewhere.

100 thousand-pounds for a saloon car… perhaps you have people with large amounts of cash, who are used to very high performance luxury, cars, homes, watches, jewellery, holidays, stuff …. Meals and activities… I live on 7-8 thousand a year …. Doing charity work with addiction and mental health ….and I’m very satisfied…. And I can’t afford to MOT and run my Toyota Jeep … which cost me £1,200…. 100k is enough to buy a nice flat in my town .. or ten years working budget … People’s obsession with luxury or performance… more, better, best …. It's not far off, Audi made an RS 8 road ready prototype a few years ago, it never made it into production though.

It's VERY UNDERWHELMING. I say this as an owner of the 2015~2018 S8 Plus. The engine makes LESS POWER. The interior does not seem more luxurious. What was perfectly good tactile buttons, knobs and carbon trim get replaced by broad swats of shinny plastic and touch screens that very quickly becomes full of finger prints. The only upside is that it is now long wheelbase whereas previously they force you into a short wheelbase car with a dinky moonroof if you wanted an S-car.

Wonderful review. What is the weight distribution? I drove the A8 yesterday and compared to S580 or 760, I felt the A8 was front heavy, specially when braking. I cannot find the weight distribution technical sheet anywhere. Thank you
