Heard the hot coffee lawsuit mentioned. For those who don't know an old lady ordered a coffee from mcdonalds in the early 2000s and it was made extremely hot, way above what it was supposed to be. It spilled on her and fused her labia to her leg. Mcdonalds then made it seem like she was suing for spilling hot coffee on herself. She just wanted them to pay her hospital bills after her vagina was fused to her leg because of how hot they made it. To this day people mention her as a way to mock people for lawsuits when in reality she went through a horrifying experience and deserved the money

The hot coffee thing you were referencing was the case of an elderly woman suffering 3rd degree burns that were so severe that her genitals were fused together. It was the jury that decided she was to be awarded one 24hr period of profits for the damage she suffered as a result of coffee served beyond the point boiling. The reason it's called a silly case is because of MacDonald's PR team did a very successful smear campaign.
