Will has tried so hard since the Entanglement debacle to hide how miserable he was feeling. Unfortunately, his mask has slipped at the Oscars and revealed a dark side of him. So sad to see him go down like that. Plus, the whole sequence of events - the slap, the cursing, the self-justifying acceptance speech, the dancing at the Vanity Fair party, an apology on Instagram, resigning…. Will is human, he made a mistake, and he will be fine. But After the Oscars fiasco, I thought about Warren Buffet's quote: “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.” We all are work in progress, and I'm trying to meditate on that on a daily basis.

Will and Jada has been held as being the perfect couple for years and that's a lot of pressure. I'm my opinion Jada wanted to do the Red Table talk to show that they are human and not perfect. But when they start telling their stories a lot of people did not like what was being shown. Then the dragging and jokes started, especially downing Jade for her transgressions and questioning Will's manhood. It was too much and Will cracked and came out on Chris. And as Joe speak on empathy, I think Chris had it for Will and showed him grace by not filing charges and having him thrown out of the Oscars. These days a lot of people can not/will not show empathy for others, this is a big part of why we are in this lost state we are in.

I feel like the way Jada acted on the Red Table was anything but human! How can a human not recognize that she was breaking this man into pieces! Crushing him like he was a little bug! No Shame! No Love! No Empathy! She BROKE that man! In front of the whole world! And it's not like it just happened... Because sh!t happens... But nah, this was premeditated! It's almost like she is sucking all of Will's energy out of him like some kind of vampire Just feasting on this man's soul! Her husband! The father of her children! And she LOVES IT! It's like it gives her life! It's just not human at all! It's something else... Somethings not right... I don't think the issue is that Will needs more therapy, it's that he's not keeping it real with his therapist or vice versa. Your therapist can't be a part of your whole entourage, they need to remain as objective as possible. I do think that Jada is the main issue here. I think that it's Jadas idea to have this open relationship. Will doesn't love the idea, but he's a people pleaser so he's just going along with it. So yes, he has his side pieces too trying to play along, but he doesn't love the arraignment. Yet he has to sit there and defend it because that's what Jada wants. I think it all came to a head when she gave him that look after the joke Rock made. I also think he saw Rock as an easy target so he attacked him. I highly doubt he would have slapped Chappelle, or Kevin Hart or anyone else with a more confident stature. Lastly the joke was tame, borderline corny. All these think peices about it being rooted in racism and misogyny or whatever else is nonsense. While I do think that there is some lines that comedians can't cross( Kramer calling an audience member a nigg*r and referencing lynching) Chris Rock was no where near that line with this joke.

I don’t understand Joe beef with Will Smith. Sometimes when he speak of him he acts like will can’t or should transcend to different spaces of media. Will Smith is old Hollywood ( His team handles everything) when he joined Instagram it was a big deal because we’ve never had that type of access to him before. The most fans with see him is walking the carpet to a premiere of a movie which used to be a big deal. For me I’m okay with just being a fan I don’t need to know every motion and entertainer is dealing with I don’t and social media remove the mystery of a celebrity the excitement you get when you might see them are the excitement of something new that they’re working on. I don’t have to see the entertainer in pain for me to know that their human actors they just have to act musicians they just need to make music that’s it.

Lots of folks happy (not me)he slapped brother Chris. Perception is a funny thing and times change. Traditional marriage been long dead we just don’t want to admit it. He decided to stick out his marriage no matter what cause that is what you promise when you enter a marriage. In another few years open marriage is not going to be so weird, they just early. Other countries already get it poppin like that. He overreacted in that moment and made a mistake. His public persona is so bubbly folks forget he’s hood no matter how many times they heard “From west Philadelphia born no raise”. The entire 2022 Oscars was scripted. Nothing that airs on TV is unscripted. When you watch award shows, always pay attention to the viewing cameras. There are usually very few cameras: camera that captures the main stage focusing on the host, and those who announce the nominees/winners; camera that captures the overview of the main level sitting area, and one last camera that captures a few faces randomly but never constantly at the same people. Take note of the camera angle when Rock begins to poke at JPS, a new camera emerges that is usually not used. The camera focuses on Smith engaging with Rock. When Smith walks from his seat to the main stage, another camera emerges and this time it focuses with a wide mid-wide angle shot at Smith's walk distinctly. As Smith approaches Rock, another camera emerges from a particular angle to capture a particular event like it was already predetermined. If that event of Smith slapping Rock wasn't part of the acting script, the main camera that usually captures the main stage would have been taken away from capturing Smith. Another camera angle focusing on the audience would have emerged. Therefore, for the camera to have captured the entirety of the event, it was part of the script. In the recent years, when have we seen a large number of African American stars troop into the Oscars? Puff, Beyonce, Jay-Z and other African American top entertainers were in attendance because the heads of the 2022 Oscars planning committee were African Americans. Secondly, the Oscars had been experiencing a decline in viewership in the past years, as well as the Globe, the SAG, and the Emmys. You don't get to have Will Smith just attend your event without he being the headliner and that mostly would come with a huge attendance price tag. That's the level Smith is on. The slap was real, but it was all scripted. Go and watch past Oscars, pay attention to all the cameras. Then watch the 2022 Oscars and pay attention to the cameras.
