Everybody talking about Jada’s alopecia and Will’s mental/emotional baggage and ain’t nobody talkin about how Chris Rock has been open about his trauma from being bullied and physically abused throughout his childhood. I can’t even begin to imagine the trauma that came as a result of this and in the moment, he handled it like an absolute champion. Gained a hell of a lot of respect for Chris. Lost a lot for Will. What he did shows that he has so little control over his life, his emotions, and his home. He needs help. And instead of admitting that he needs help, he chose to stand up there and hail himself as some sort of champion defender of his family. That mf lost his mind. That was some b*tch *ss sh*t. That’s all it was. Nothin else.

@@-Epiphany I do not. A guy being bullied in childhood ending up in a career that is basicly only based on roasting others (what is basicly bulliing) is just becoming what he freared. And having that childhood background he should have known the line not to cross. I am from europe and not interested in Hollywood gossip... but I knew about why Mrs Smith is bold... so if I know, people in the Hollywood microcosmos should have known and the whole preperation of the Oscars did a bad job in advance. That joke was not improviced... the responsibles should have checked what will be said on stage.

Rock is from BK but he's no fighter. He's a low key dude!! He talked abt being robbed several times in his professional career in BK djring his SNL days!! He weighs a buck 40ish on his best day! Rock is almost 60 yo & was assaulted by a mid 50 yo dude in the best shape of his life. And even will is no Alpha( Which is one of the main reasons Jada has no respect for him...) but he's bigger & stronger than Rock so it was not even close to a fair fight. He picked on a dude that even on his best day could not best him in a fight and will knew that. It was a cowards move. Hed have never stepped to a white comdian or even other blk comedians who are way more hood & Alpha than Rock. Rocks an intellectual. Hes a smart clever dude, a wordsmith of sorts... I’m Team Chris on this one… I think he deserved an award for the swift recovery after a crazy situation. And as far as the joke that, for some reason, I’ve been hearing people refer to it as an ‘alopecia’ joke..Chris Rock did not joke about alopecia, he joked about a haircut. And I have hair loss, much more than Jada currently exhibits, that I have experienced for most of my adult life (20+ years of it) and I’m tired of people assuming I should be sensitive to Chris’ joke… And if we want get to the real problem, how about let’s expose the real pressure among women which is that I’ve been pressured by a lot of women to shave my head. “Like, just do it, it’s so easy.. you’ll feel better once you do it.” Pressured by women who are not experiencing any hair loss, that have a full head of hair.🙄 No! 🤬 I will do what I want… when/if I get ready for that stage. Perhaps this was a sore subject for Jada because society has pressured her to think that she has to accept the short cut before she is ready. She didn’t have to, but she looks good with it, she has a nice shaped head. Being compared to Demi Moore (as GI Jane) was also a compliment because that character still looked good either way too. However I don’t feel sorry for Jada. She has a gajillion dollars and can afford to look however she pleases. Most of us don’t have all the options she has at her fingertips. People saying she doesn’t have control over how she looks.. actually, she does, because she can buy any look she wants…She could buy a whole new head if she wants…on the other hand, I wish I had those unlimited options at my fingertips but I don’t. She didn’t have to shave her head. It was a choice. Will Smith has been looking for someone to slap for a long time now…Chris Rock was the only one he knew he could get away with that😅 he probably wanted to slap Regina Hall and Rebel Wilson for the jokes they made about Jada and all her boyfriends, then he probably also wanted to slap Jada for making their family the butt of all the jokes (by telling all their personal business/dirty laundry at table talk (and with the boyfriend, that was her son’s age) and lastly he probably wanted to slap himself for allowing this all to come to a head😅. I do think that the reason people were forced to take a hard look at Will Smith’s behavior, in the aftermath, was mainly because Chris Rock handled the situation better than most people would have. When forced to look at the juxtaposition of the two successful black men in Hollywood, and their behavior/responses, side by side, the obvious conclusion should have been the undeniable observation being the one that held it together vs the one that could not. Had Chris Rock responded with the same violent behavior that Will Smith did initially, this could have been analyzed completely different and we all might be having a completely different conversation. I am so glad Chris Rock did not lose himself in that moment. And lastly, I think the thing that is most upsetting to me is that we have been complaining/boycotting for the lack of diversity from previous year awards (and Oscars ‘oh so white’ stuff) and then the first moment they okay it, well, ‘so-called’ okay for more black and brown presence, what the heck do we do??….Be so sensitive about a joke? Come on. If we really want to be equal then we are not exempt to the same roasting that occurs (no matter the race, gender, etc).. we can’t use excuses like black women are sensitive to their hair.. and if they can’t take it, they shouldn’t be sitting up in the front (in the roasting section)🙄 but this goes deeper I said the same thing when President Obama became the first black President. We were proud and happy that it happened, but others should have been able to criticize him, just like they’ve criticized every single president that came before him. That shows me the mindset has changed and we are all the same.. but if people have to walk on eggshells around us (for fear of being accused of being racist) then we aren’t equal… but it’s because the people (us) who want to have a seat at the table of equality, haven’t really convinced ourselves that we are all equal. And that’s not the other group’s fault… that’s the fault of the people who want to sit there too. Once we free ourselves of that mental enslavement and mindset, our communities will get over this little chip we have on our shoulders, but until then we will continue to see this broken mindset and degenerate more still and nobody on the outside can heal that (solve that) fix that. This has to be fixed on the inside. There is no amount of free stuff, or reparations, or apologies, or groveling, or amounts of affirmative action that will solve this currently unsolvable puzzle within the black community.
