As bad as I feel for Will, I think more attention should be given to August. They keep saying he was a family friend, but let's be clear. He was a friend of Jada's kid, not her. So imagine coming to the parents of your friend in distress, dealing with mental health problems and a death in your family, and instead of helping you, the much older parental figure seduces you. This is soooo sketchy and not ok. It's one thing to cheat and gaslight your husband about it (bad), but it's a whole nother level to do it with a young and vulnerable friend of your kid.

I couldn’t have said it better myself! What she did was NOT OK, on ANY level… She is a true narcissist who does NOT care about anyone but herself… not even her kids! She has been gaslighting Will for a LONG TIME! She has put him through HELL the past few years and you can see it in his appearance, he has aged A LOT! Shame on Jada… I doubt she even realizes how awful she has made herself look 🙄 I really hope Will comes to his senses SOON and gets as far away from her as possible! I can tell he’s the kind of guy who probably stayed with her for so long “for the kids”. Now that they’re grown I hope he truly comes to his senses and runs for the hills!

He says “ How am I doing ?” to give her an entry point to praise him and say something affirming to HIM. He needed her affirmation and it was his only opportunity because throughout the interview it was all about HER , her needs and his love for her. He even begins the interview ( not shown) by saying he told her in the beginning of their relationship “ I could love you through anything ?” The “ How am I doing ?” refers to his commitment, devotion, self sacrificing spirit , and love for HER as promised in his vow. Sad to watch. Looks a bit like Narc Abuse .

I think she's very comfortable because she's a narcissist and doesn't think she did anything wrong. I think she's also very comfortable because of the fact that Will is not and she's lording it over him, humiliating him- she has all the power. When you're repentant and sorry for what you've done, harm you've caused someone you profess to love, you're crying, you're begging. Even if you've gotten past the initial emotions, you'd still be eyes downcast, humble and there's none of that.

When she said she didn’t feel he had the capacity to love her, and him asking how he was doing, told me everything I needed to know about why he slapped Chris. Jada played it off like “We Were On A Break!!” - but she was in a position of power and trust while August was at vulnerable point in his life, and she took advantage. The fact that August was not mentally stable is probably the only reason Will did not beat his ass. No one has taken this into consideration. They both emphasised that he was really really Ill. Will was going to dump her ass but I guess she talked him around by minimising the whole entanglement. Entanglement literally means a difficult or complicated romantic situation. That's a roundabout definition. It's ridiculed because everyone just calls it an affair. She was trying to give that affair depth by using an obscure word. Let's face it. Will was always away. Jada was also alone, she got left with this young boy, I'm sure she meant well in the beginning. Sometimes when a woman hasn't had the affections of her man they look elsewhere. August probably complimentary towards her and she probably hadn't heard that for a while. She did stress that she had been feeling alone for a long long time. Will worked all year round bar 2 weeks he had off I read somewhere. So even though we think they told us quite a lot, I don't think they told us as much as they could have. In order for that to have happened, a more mature conversation should gave been had, instead of joking about it in parts. I mean it sounds like I'm team Jada but honestly, I have never really rated her as an actress. So she wasn't really on my radar. The mistake they made was to address the issue. They should have left it to black twitter and just not acknowledged it. Like many many many celebrities do. I do think Jada latched onto him for what she could get from him. Even if only to raise her profile. Which while Tupac was alive, she used him for that too. Social climber more than anything else. Both Tupac and Will were already successful. Jada, not so much.

@@fergoka it makes perfect sense when you’re dealing with a broken person who has low self esteem. I can speak from personal experience. Broken people don’t really understand that they’re broken. They have think they understand it… but until you’re healed, you can’t truly see just how broken you were. Narcissists feed off of brokenness. It’s like a magnet drawing them in. It’s a game. So they will give you the world while making themselves irresistible in the beginning to give you something to hold on to and long for. Once they’ve got you.. fully, that’s when they flip. They convince you that you’re worthless, you’re not a good person, no one wants you, and they’re doing you a favor by being with you. They constantly brag about themselves and build themselves up while they do this to you so it convinces you even more that you’re so lucky to have them. It’s just evil.. This cycle traps people. It causes those broken pieces to break down more and more over time. It honestly takes a lot for a person to take a step back and see what’s really going on. But even still, you have to be the one to ultimately decide if you’re worth more or are they worth the torment. Some never see it. Just my opinion, but I think Will has brokenness that has never healed from his childhood up until present day. Jada feeds on this brokenness and uses it to her advantage. Which in turn, keeps him holding on tight. I could be completely wrong and they both could be toxic as hell. But I know that look in his eyes.. and I sure as hell know the look in hers. Another good example, Amber and Johnny. Johnny freaking Depp.. with a C lister Amber Heard. She abused him and drained his money. Mans could literally have anyone in the world. But instead he’s with her. Makes no sense on the outside looking in but to them, it makes the most sense.

Perhaps he was unfaithful first (although she’d sure mention it if he had). So this boy was ‘sick’ - kind of sounds like she took advantage. He seems to think Will gave his blessing too... I went through my wife having had an affair about 3-3.5 years ago. It was an absolute gut punch. Her immediate behavior when she was caught was outrage. She moved to being defensive and snarky. She progressed into depression and drinking. She went back to outrage when I found out she was still seeing the guy. She was present, she said she was committed to us, but it was just like Jada here: totally absent of warmth and any convincing emotion. I can see the heartache in Will's face; he looks like he's on the verge of crying most of the time. My wife's emotion and demeanor toward me didn't improve dramatically for 8-9 months until I was speaking very truthfully about my emotional experience to someone not knowing it was her friend (it was not one of my contacts and I thought it was another person's #). My wife knew we had the convo and asked to read it. It was then when she saw my full heart and the full gravity of ALL of her actions throughout that period hit her and things turned around. I'm not at all surprised Jada is still acting like this; it's all still pretty raw at this time and sin doesn't like being in the light. They still had a long road to go down for full healing. I also immediately expected how this was behind the slap. Chris was kind of attacking Jada in the guise of a joke and Will has gone through a kind of hell to retain and rebuild his relationship, so he's VERY protective of it. He wants to be a better husband, a more supportive husband, and the kind of husband she wouldn't want to leave again. His ego was blasted and his ego is now very attached to his success as a husband. I went through it. It shocked me that no one seemed to think about this when the slap happened. That was a broken man still trying to rebuild himself, or a previously broken man who had rebuilt himself on a foundation that necessitated that act of aggression.

When she said “entanglement” and Will made her stop and was sarcastic as he questioned her verbiage and she stared him straight on with no blinking after that, when he said “an entanglement???”, and she said something like “:…that’s what I….said” with a kind of hidden smile and that upward inflection in her voice when she said “said” but the stare down for those few seconds was like, intimidating him in a light way, attempting to do it lightly anyway. Cause her voice is high and kind of trying to sound relaxed but firm…but also high, so it’s like it doesn’t match, she’s trying to keep her voice calm but she’s really concealing the urge to get loud and forceful….but her eyes and eyebrows are not lifting or opening wider which would match that high inflection, but the deep stare and her eyes being set on him with no blinking doesn’t match it so it looks off. And I thought maybe it’s Botox or something but in other clips of her talking she doesn’t have the lack of expression due to Botox. So I think she’s trying to maintain and calmness because she knows she’s the one on trial but she’s not liking how Will is getting kind of sarcastic at her approach and her minimizing verbiage, he’s like alright I’m taking control here go ahead and get to the nitty gritty Jada, and she’s not used to that in my opinion but it’s like he’s taking advantage of the opportunity cause he knows and she knows, she’s in the hot seat here. She’s low key like I have to be calm now but when this is over, your gonna regret this lol

Maybe I can take sides; it seems Jada ultimately wears the pants in this relationship, Will loved her and maybe she manipulated the relationship so she could boink August and maybe cause Will pain. Will is of course deeply hurt and the child in his soul doesn't trust her anymore, his innermost desire is for things to be the way they were before the rupture of their relationship, and the slap on Chris Rock was an exaggerated gesture by Will to reassert dominance over and possession of Jada in public. By reacting like a Macho-Man in defense of his "Woman", he is, in reality, saying that this is really how I would like to slap Jada for all the shit she created. I would go so far as to say Will is between a rock and a hard place with his feelings, on the one hand he is in danger of appearing to be pussy-whipped weakling in public and on the other hand his sense of self-respect demands a demonstration of machismo in response to his "Woman" being dissed in public by another man. Remember that most men need the four women rolled into one, in the woman they are with, i. the trophy wife ii. the mother substitute, iii. the homemaker, saintly mother of his children, iv. the harlot, whore and debauched sex object. I fear Will has had to share the fourth one and is never going to be happy with her or trust her again.

It's difficult for those in such relationships to get out. They think they need to love more and show more understanding. In the meantime, they lose their families, friends, support network, reputation and self worth. Sometimes they even believe that the other person needs them. It is difficult though, isn't it? I mean, Will agrees that he was done with her and they had agreed to go out and find what made them happy individually at the time. Is it hurtful if the first thing that happens after something like that is that your "partner" engages in a relationship with someone else? Definitely. But is it cheating? Is it cheating if even now, they both agree that they were separated at the time? Is it cheating just because they were still married? Even though that marriage was an open marriage? I don't know, that doesn't seem like as easy or obvious an answer to me as many people are making it out to be...

Her behavior--downplaying her indiscretions, refusing to apologize, justifying her wrongdoings, making light of something that clearly brought him a lot of sadness--reminds me so much of my narcissistic ex. Unfortunately I reacted so much like Will during the relationship, constantly seeking reassurance that I was doing a good job in the relationship and that I was loving him enough (even blaming myself for his bad behavior), and giving him way too much leeway. Seeing everyone in the comments calling out how self-absorbed and abusive her behavior is is *so* reaffirming and so helpful to me right now, as I'm still struggling with understanding what the hell happened to me in my relationship. Thank you everyone and thank you Spidey for giving me the tools for spotting this kind of behavior in the future!

@@clown134 I can see how it might look like that. However, living with a narcissist (spouse, child, sibling, parent and whatnot - people you love) is a very very real challenge, and brings you all kinds of issues and problems. Surviving one of those relationships coming out with head high and functioning after years to decades of constant gaslighting - that brings extra challenge. The common for most of these relationship is that the narcissist will work hard to keep you around so that in practice they can keep on manipulating you because they are extremely insecure individuals. I'm aware my description of a narcissist is lacking, but I assure you I know a lot about this, it's just not the platform to discuss it in great details. But feel free to ask any questions. So are we treating Will like a child? I don't think so. I don't think so. Breaking a relationship can be a traumatic experience for all involved. I guarantee you breaking a relationship with a gaslighting narcissist, thats GONNA be EXTREMELY traumatic. Because until you're done and worked through it, you will constantly question your sanity. So Will is facing very very real problems with this, that he needs help figuring out. That's sound advice from one adult to another imho. Not treating him like a child. I know you didn't ask for an elaboration, but since I know this is a real problem that needs real life solutions and it's not healthy to stay alone with them problems - I thought I'd clarify that.

When you are in a long relationship. You have tried loving the other person and meeting in the middle to make that relationship work. The other person in the relationship can only ever focus on themselves. It is time to take space for yourself. I was in a toxic relationship for 30 years and did everything I could to make it work. But little parts of you start to die. That is not ok. It is ok to take a step back and just work on yourself. At the end of the day, we live with ourselves. No one else is in our heads. If we stay somewhere, that just makes us angry and resentful. That is not ok. It is not good for us or the world. Thank you for your good work!

I totally agree there’s no warmth it’s like they live in a competition. The thing that always bothered me about this interview is this; when she talks about her relationship with August and she says “ we were really really good friends“. You’re talking to your spouse about a man that you had a sexual relationship with. Even if you guys were broken up at that time it would still be painful to your husband to bring that up. Then on top of it to say that you and the other man were really really close that’s like cutting your husband with a knife.

Rinse and repeat it till you can't take it anymore strong men can go years before they are able to leave someone they love even if they don't like who their love turns into. If they were not rich with easy life this relationship would have been so over a long time ago. Of course maybe I'm wrong mind that iv never met any of them.

Yep. The "minuscule" comment immediately threw up a red flag to me. One, it distances her callousness as not a big deal, and Two it dismisses Will's feelings of being hurt by her actions against his desires and needs. She is deeply entrenched in her own narcissism and will likely never be able to face her own abusive behaviors. You can tell Will has developed careful language to try to navigate her reactivity and gaslighting. He's trying to speak very clearly and directly, while also trying not to make her lash-out and take it out on him later.

Listening to you explain this makes me think Jada is really deranged. You're the first one to really give a detailed perspective about this relationship. I didn't know August was sick. Who has a sexual relationship with someone who is dealing with very serious mental issues, much less someone who is the age of your son. It's borderline abuse, right? I'm starting to think she gets off on being with wounded men. Either she met them wounded, or she creates the damage in the people she claims to love. It's really messed up! I read Will's book and felt it gave a good perspective of who he is and why he does the things he does. I wonder if that slap was really him unleashing all the anger he's had over August, Tupac, Chris trying to get with his wife, and the stress of keeping up appearances, and constantly trying to be the good guy. He said in his book, that he often felt like a coward. I think he wanted to empower himself in that moment. It's too much pressure for anyone, especially someone who is constantly in the public eye. His explosion was long overdue. I view that slap now as the culmination of everything that was pent up inside. He needed to explode. It's just unfortunate that it played out the way it did. I feel bad for Chris too. He definitely didn't deserve that. But Will deserved that Oscar, and he deserved to get it without the drama. Jada is drama. We've learned it follows her everywhere. I wish Will could have a do-over. He should of just taken one of his kids or his mom to the Oscars. How great would that night have been with the woman who raised him by his side. All the years of hard work, the wonderful brand Will has created for himself, would have been celebrated. I still root for Will, and wish him continued success. I hope he's able to earn another Oscar when his 10 yr. ban is up, and he gets to do it the way he had intended. I will NOT be reading Jada's book. She's used men to make a name for herself, and she's proved she is NOT "worthy."

Entanglement is a synonym of adultery. Using the former word has a euphemism tone to it. Dig deeper with morality, it is adultery. We all fall short of the glory of God. I can't judge her. However people such as Jada should just say it as it is-- "I committed adultery", period.

I just watched a music video to a song called "A Thousand Kisses" that Will and Jada made back in the early 2000s I think. In the lyrics, Will is professing his unconditional love and affection to Jada in most of his lyrics, but when Jada sings her verse, all she talks about is how much Will adores her and how funny he is. That one song pretty much encapsulates their entire relationship through the years. Jada has never been in love with Will. She has only been in love with the idea of having someone worship her. Will left his first wife for her.

He even begins the interview ( not shown) by saying he told her in the beginning of their relationship “ I could love you through anything ?” The “ How am I doing ?” refers to this promise … his commitment, devotion, self sacrificing spirit , and love for HER as promised in his vow. I grew up on The Fresh Prince, and seeing him in this situation is painful. The pain in his body is so obvious. He fought back the tears, and all she could say was, "you're doing great." I appreciate this video because it provides a glimpse into their relationship and how disconnected she is from her actions. She's taking no responsibility for cheating on her husband, AND she's used her child's friend to build up her self-esteem by taking advantage of this very sick friend at his lowest point. Maybe that is the reason for this "friend" to stop contacting her. Maybe he's realized how she didn't help him, that she took advantage of him, and used him to gain more power in her relationship with her husband. She is preying on people and it is scary to witness. I can only hope that the ones she has already harmed can find the strength to leave that toxic relationship.

@Cathy Earnshaw She was young. Who can say what would’ve happened. My guess is they would’ve bumped into choppy relational waters … most couples cycle around with it. I have never cared for JPS.

I have 7 years sober. And you are never more vulnerable then when you are reaching out for help to try to get sober. And the fact that she took advantage of this young man August who was a friend of her sons that was reaching out for help to try to get sober tells me all I need to know about Miss Jada. She's a snake 🐍

Kid can’t ask literally anyone else for help? It’s gotta be his rich friends hot famous mom? I’m reminded of Dave Chapelle in reference to R Kelly… “15 is old enough to know you don’t wanna get peed on…” I’m not saying August isn’t a victim here, that he wasn’t young impressionable or in a vulnerable position, but I don’t think you could say he’s not at least partially responsible. It takes two to entangle… and August has some dookey on his hands as well.

She ISNT saying he isn't partially responsible she is saying Jada is SUPPOSED to be an adult which she is clearly not since she doesn't understand that being an adult you are required to be more responsible because you are supposed to know a bit more than a confused 22 yr old at her age. I'll just bet you she would suddenly get the message if another woman took advantage of her vulnerable son in the same way, then you would see claws fly, bcos she is such a hypocrit as well.
