What I think flew right by a lot of people’s heads is that his answer is the textbook answer a lot of black ppl give (at least on social media) when confronted with their own racism against other groups. Like, you’ll see a post about a blatantly racist remark or violent hate crime (where the perpetrator is black and acting towards another racial/ethnic group) and majority of the comments will be black accounts saying nearly verbatim to what Joel said: “black people aren’t capable of being racist because this system doesn’t grant us power… we can only be prejudiced”. So basically a dude shouting “go back to your country, you _______” and attempting to kill them isn’t technically racist to some people lol. So it’s even more ironic and naively hilarious that Ziwe called him out for answering that way… bc it’s actually done all the time *awkward head scratch*
@beatm6948 Жыл бұрын
@@siiiiiuu7 it's different definitions of racism. The former referred to in your comment i consider institutional racism, which black people are not capable of. However, interpersonal racism is different.
