Hi Robbie. I really appreciate your honest opinion of Cape Light, as a lot of people won't objectively assess work by those considered masters of their craft. I haven't read the book (viewed the book?) so I can't comment on it. However, as someone who worked in a public library for 30 odd years, please never, ever combine sand and a book! I shall have nightmares tonight. 😀

hahaha I didnt mean to trigger a fever dream-like scenario for you but I can promise you that all sand has been removed from the book

The Cape makes you work a little harder these days but the timeless feel is still there if you get lost down the right roads! Joel packaged and sold nostalgia between two covers with Cape Light, but I absolutely understand your feelings about the book. Although, it's nearly 50 years old now and I like to remind myself how much photography has changed and give credit to those who paved the way, like Joel!

Such a great review. I admire how you respectfully talk about the book, even going to the Cape (no other reviewer I’ve seen has gone to the Cape), but in the end you say the book left much to be desired. Then highlighting another one of Joel’s books that you liked more. This is the perfect review, I wish everyone was so open and respectful.

Thank you, Michael! I worked hard on doing it justice and not just being negative. Im glad you liked it :)

Awesome vid. Really enjoying these inspired by films. And great photos - particularly the ones of the sailboat and rose cottage.

You are welcome for the tip. You can also get a GL690 pro with a proper bulb mode, not t mode, and interchangeable lenses. Keep up the great work.

I wasnt a fan of the GL when I borrowed one but somehow the rangefinder was much brighter than the GSW III

Now I’m feeling besser. So I’m not the only person that has these feelings about this book. I love a few pictures of the book, but some are just „yeah, cool,next“ But I’m happy to own a copy.

Great video and shots, really dig the pool long exposure. BTW I'm sure you may already know but the redhead at 15:36 is actually Joan Cusack.

Just a thought... The cape feels increasingly less family friendly to me, not in any obscene way, but one of affordability, it has an increasing expense problem. We paid less as a family of 4 to board a plane and go to the Grand Canyon for a week this summer than we did to drive from Central Mass and stay 5 days in Truro last summer.
@RobbieMaynardCreates Жыл бұрын
Aint that the truth. That was more or less my point. Its not blue collar familys spending summers in their cottages they've owned since the 50s. Its celebrities, athletes and trust fund babies building hideous multi million dollar mansions in every open lot

Cape Light is why I'm a photographer. However, I do agree with you that it's highly inconsistent.
