Marvão, Castelo de Vide and Penha Garcia. Almeida (prepare your drone). Castelo Rodrigo. While there and since you like eagles, cross Douro river to Freixo-de-Espada-à-Cinta and go to Penedo Durão, the top of a 500m cliff where eagles (real ones, not 'grifos' which are very common there) have their nests and if lucky you'll see one - don't tell anyone, it's a secret. From praia da Congida you can rent a bike and search them from bottom. I did a boat trip from there and it's unforgettable, regardless being crowded in summer.

Try to visit the Alter do Chão Stud Farm, near Alter do Chão (in northeastern Alentejo), which has existed continuously since 1748 to breed and preserve Lusitanian horses. There is a new hotel Vila Galé within the Stud Farm, where they can stay to enjoy the region.

Olá my Darlings. I’d like to suggest, as I know others have... showing the name of the town when you mention it. It’s difficult, sometimes to know what you are saying... between Portuguese names and Danish accents... please. For example, @ 4:49... I know you said Azores, but no idea what the name of the town was. It will especially help non Europeans. Obrigada. Great list.

As Rui Pedro Donas mentioned - the town in the Azores mentioned in the video is called Nordeste (north east in transliterated in English). This town is located on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. The island itself is very easy to get around - roughly 64 km wide by 21 km. Ponta Delgada is the main city that has the airport that you would fly into, and Nordeste would be about 30 minutes from Ponta Delgada. Quite frankly, the whole island is amazing, give yourself a week there bare minimum to check the place out.

Awesome choices lads! 😉 Nonetheless, I would recommend (for further trips): Alentejo - Castelo de Vide and Marvão (also visit the buried Roman city called Ammaia nearby); Minho - Moledo, Caminha and Vilar de Mouros; Trás-os-Montes/ Alto Douro - Torre de Moncorvo, Mogadouro and Miranda do Douro (And you could also visit Freixo de Espada À Cinta as well).

I'm from another small town from Bragança (less than 100 people, so boring) and I must admit that you guys chose a really good place from my concelho. If you decide to return to Bragança (the distrito) I would recommend either Mirandela (for the river, not the alheiras) or Miranda do Douro. Miranda do Douro (vila) is near the border and has a magnificent view of the Rio Douro, where you can try to spot the number "2" which is said to bring good luck for couples or that you will get married if you are single.

The problem when you visit Portugal is that your are visiting a country with 1000 years of pure history well preserved, and few invasions could threaten it. So you can see it one food, architecture etc... etc...And with big natural threaten (like Spain) this country has always been able to keep some sort of cohesion (Aljubarrota battle for example) due Maybe in part to religion, stubbornness, huge faith and enormous will to survive. What you see is only the top of the iceberg that you can explore.

Great choices. My favorite places's list wouldn't probably be very different. There are always new places, of course. Like Tomar, Castelo de Almourol, aldeias de xisto (in several areas, look for it in advance), Belmonte, Elvas, etc. Elvas is in the Alentejo, near Spain. If you want a feeling of deep Alentejo you can go South, Serpa, etc.,and then down to the Algarve, Castro Marim. (By the way, you could do EN2 - Estrada Nacional 2 - from Chaves in Trás-os-Montes (I think) down to the Algarve. It's gaining some mistique , there are "simbólic passports", etc,, - you need planing). But about Elvas and the "deep Alentejo", you could something different, like going to Olivença /Olivenza, in Spain (/Portugal). It is the facto in Spain, but is Portuguese in essence. And very beautiful. It is the only border dispute, or political sensitive issue still, a bit. I have noticed you focus a lot in gastronomy, architecture, land scape, etc., which is great, but you could also look for traditions (do you know Pauliteiros, Caretos...?). Do you know about Mirandês, a different language (close to the Pauliteiros). You sometimes include Portuguese music, which is great, I love Cante from Alentejo, Beira Baixa music (if you go there look for Idanha-a-Velha), look for the recordings of Michel Giacometti of traditional music (some videos on KZbin) , rare footages, etc. etc
