The NBA is still a Christmas tradition for me. Before there was streaming, Christmas was often the first time I watched the NBA all season because it was the only time you could watch over the air on a day that I didn't have to work. Football is fine, but by December it starts to feel like it's the only sport available to watch on the weekends if you don't want to shell out for a bunch of different streaming services.

From what I can tell. Bowl games are rarely on Christmas Eve and Day. If anything if I were the NFL commissioner I would allow College games to be back on New Year’s Day on a Sunday and simply spilt most of the games on the Saturday before and have 3 national games on the following Monday.

As someone that's interested in the NFL but not the NBA, this disappoints me. You're unnecessarily depriving a whole bunch of people of their holiday just to improve others'. This is also how I feel about going to movies, restaurants, etc. on Christmas (or any other major religious or patriotic holiday). I would say this about the NBA as well, but NBA Christmas games are a tradition in and of itself, as are Christmas-related theatrical productions.

The three point shot has increased mostly at the expense of the long two, the difference between taking a step to get inside the arc vs just spotting up outside the arc. The amount of drives to the basket and elbow jumpers is still roughly the same. Imo the aesthetic difference isn’t nearly as large as it’s made out to be. And to be frank I’ve watched the NBA in the 2000s and I always found it frustrating to see a dude get an open corner three just to dribble one step into the arc to make it a two pointer.

You can look up stat lines, place a bet and check on it after the game is over which is what you’d probably do if you really don’t like watching in the first place. A lot of fans are there to root for their home team, but the NBA also has historically had a lot of fans that are watching to root for a player such as LeBron or KD regardless of what team either is on, and there has been lot of fan band wagon fans for quite some time.

I do live in a market with one of the teams playing (Go Ravens) and it’s being aired locally on CBS/WJZ Not our usual “Local networks” for cable games/preseason. WBAL/WMAR for MNF. If anything WJZ rarely does local sports outside of a few Orioles opening day games I think. So it will be interesting to see if Netflix’s quality will carry over to the local broadcasts. Also a football fan. Please leave Christmas alone, Trying to conquer every holiday is hubris and possibly dangerous for players. What’s next a Halloween game? It falls on a Friday next year so it could happen.

I am not buying Netflix for Christmas football, not buying Amazon Prime for Thursday night football, or Peacock for playoffs and Sunday night football. Most games are on Fox, CBS, and NBC. The NBA is pussyfoot but Christmas is the only time I get to watch games. I have Hornets, Wizards, Nets, Knicks, Spurs, Lakers, Trailblazers, Nuggets, Mavericks, Cavaliers, Bucks apps to listen to games. While i love the NFL, i also love MLB, NBA and the NHL. I hate the NFL has infiltrated everything and pushing the other sports aside. In fact, i sort of resent the NFL for this because i’m a sports fan. I hate Thursday Night Football and how pushed TNT Thursday Night Basketball to another night. I hate that the NFL has pushed the World Series from Sunday now (Game 7 of the World Series was always on Sunday night). I think the NFL is expanding too much with a 17 game schedule (18 game season will happen soon). The unnecessary expansion of the playoffs and now you have Wednesday game this week which isn’t fair to these teams on short rest. The NFL is playing to the gamblers and fantasy players, as they loosened the rules too much as i miss hard hitting defenses. I actually watch less football than i did 10-15 years ago.
