I once started my period very unexpectedly at work. I had 2 emergency tampons but I bled through them onto my clothes in about two hours. I had to do the humiliating thing and tell my male supervisor. He wouldn’t let me go home to change because I “should have held it in.” I was like sir, you have a wife how do you not know how this works? Edit: a lot of people are very curious about what happened next. So I thought I’d put the rest of the story here. First off, I didn’t do a formal report to HR. There are a lot of reasons, but ultimately it comes down to being very young at the time and it also being my first “real” job which I was terrified of losing. What I did do was leave anyway. I got a call while I was driving home from my supervisor’s boss asking why I left without permission. I told him what had happened and that if he needed proof that I really did need to go home, he could go look at my chair which still had blood on it. He told me to go home and relax for the rest of the day, I wasn’t in trouble and that he would take care of it. I’m not sure what if any action was taken with my supervisor but he never mentioned it again and about 4 days later I got a new office chair. I was comfortable with that outcome and didn’t pursue it any further.

And then for the guy workers they needed to be somewhere else he didn’t touch them AT ALL not even the shoulder and ASKED them to move to another spot/station. One of our male coworkers heard my woman coworker and I talking about how inappropriate it was and the j@class acts like we are blowing it out of proportion. I said he touches us on the small of our backs and pushes us to a different area of out of the way does he do that to you? No he doesn’t touch you male employed se and he ASKS you to move. He had the gall to say that isn’t inappropriate and I said how would you feel if he did that to you just shoving you around with his hands low on your back with the historical tone of it and the blatant disrespect of it. Dumb man still couldn’t get it through his head, my typical shift lead overheated and understood immediately what we were talking about though. (That shift lead was a really nice dude that made sure we were all okay and kept our shift as smooth as possible and handled difficult customers or drivers that disrespected us. He want even manager so he couldn’t do anything about the regional manager that came to “fix” our location when the issue was and probably still is bad/lazy management that puts the running of the place on the shift leads)I hope he is doing well and I hope he found a better job because that place was toxic as hell and no one desperate to have to put up with it.

@s3lkieboyАй бұрын
@ ABSOLUTELY okay so, crabeater seal teeth are super cool, and they’re shaped like flames because despite their names they are filter feeders and instead of eating crab they eat krill! The name was because of a translation error. Baikal seals live everywhere in lake baikal except for a specific gulf, and in the native folklore of the area this was because a seal hunter disrespected the culture’s rules for hunting seals and the seals were like gods in the culture, so the legend says they cursed that part of the lake to be forever seal-free so hunters there would starve. There isn’t a scientific reason discovered for why they don’t go there. Many people don’t know seals have forked tongues, and they’re also mostly nocturnal and will sleep all day and hunt during the nighttime! Another baikal seal one, the seals themselves are around the size of a fat house cat, but their full eyeballs are the size of mandarin oranges!! I suggest looking up a baikal seal skull, they look crazy. Also definitely look up seal teeth, the results are usually all crabeater seal teeth due to how cool they are, but only that species of seals has those teeth. The oldest seal in known history is currently alive, her name is Sheba and she’s a grey seal in a sanctuary in Cornwall and she turned 50 years old recently!! (The age expectation for her species is around 20-30 in the wild so that’s super crazy). That’s all I’ve got off the top of my head for now :3

The tip thing is generally correct, regardless of the intention behind saying it. Sometimes it’s because “you’ll look nicer”, but really it’s about comfort and approachability. And since it’s the service industry and tips are based on the customer’s feeling of the interaction with the waiter/waitress, that will be a factor in their tip (consciously or unconsciously). I like thinking beyond the surface-level so I’m going to extrapolate. If you walked around a store looking for help from staff (like a general store) and they look angry or irritated, you might avoid them. They may not be upset, but you’re making an educated guess to avoid an uncomfortable situation. Same goes for restaurants, except you’re stuck with that waiter/waitress. You might be acting neutral (when they first get drinks/food), but they might avoid calling you over for another drink (not a night of alcohol with multiple rounds, I just mean water/pop) or not asking questions, because they think you might get angry or make it awkward. Is it fair? No, but it’s on the staff to make the customer feel comfortable. There isn’t a whole lot of time in this scenario for the customer to really get to know you to realize that. But also, it’s not really their responsibility. They’re the customer in this situation, and you’re the staff wanting to get an extra amount of their money (that no one owes you or has to give you). The responsibility falls upon staff to do what customers prefer (within reason), if you want extra money. If you don’t want to be enthusiastic or a bit more cheery for a few extra bucks, that’s fine, but also a willing sacrifice. So it’s really not about “the smile”, it’s about having a welcoming attitude so they feel comfortable. A smile is a “part” of that. But what they’re likely telling you, is that you’re not very approachable. Although I’m sure there are some that say it because they were trying to flirt with you or wanted you to flirt with them. That’s a separate issue, and on them. But if it’s happening often enough, it’s probably not exclusively because they’re looking to flirt, and that you’re not very welcoming/approachable.

Anyways, yeah thats crazy Id tip either way I don’t care if they smile I hardly smile because I have such a sad messed up life with lots of grief that gets to me at times. I probably wouldn’t last in customer service because of it but I’d be hopeful that people wouldn’t judge or criticize out of love and kindness though it’s sadly rare today. I have no problem helping others regardless of their attitude or situation just out of love 💗 and understanding.

I ghosted a guy because he was wayyyy too comfy with kidnapping jokes. Like when they start joking about it they’ve already actually thought about it. I’ve watched too much true crime lmfao.

@mrshmuga9 No, he wanted to kidnap me. He went into graphic detail. How he "capture" me, tie me up,or stick me in the back of a van. He would want me to beg to be let go. I started a flirty conversation, and it turned into this. Again, I didn't really know this guy, so it was super inappropriate. He thought it was sexy but dangerous. I just thought it was dangerous. As I said, I stopped contact with him. I also told our mutual friend. In regards to the tipping thing, I didn't need that long of a patronizing explanation. I am very good at my job. I am friendly with my customers. I just have a resting face when I am doing something that is very neutral. It is not RBF, just blank. I also never ask for a tip or expect a tip. That is entirely up to the customer, but a customer, especially men, should not say to me, " you know if only you would smile or if you would have smiled I would have tipped you." That, in my opinion, is so out of left field and not appropriate. If I gave you good customer service, that should be the basis on whether you tip me or not. Not if I made some man feel good by smiling at him. I don't owe them a smile to make them feel good. That was my point. Look, I might be reading into your comment. You probably meant to be helpful, but it came off as condescending and patronizing. I'm sure you are a delightful person. I just didn't need to be told to, in a way ,suck it up and just smile.

I went on a date with a guy and he dropped the worst line I’ve ever heard: “I’m not a pressure guy. If I was, I’d be over there on top of you.” Safe to say I left. Fuck that.

One guy I went on a date with (I paid) bragged about shooting a rabid opossum in an apartment complex. Opossum can’t get rabies. He just bragged about shooing a poor, innocent, opossum. I ghosted him after that date.

I work at a drug store. I usually cashier, and some men just shouldn’t. I work the weekends, and I’ve had men say some wild shit to me. This happened on a Sunday. We have a rewards program, you spend money to earn points for later purchases. I asked this man “Do you have a rewards with us?” He says “No, but I can reward you.” I just stared at him for a bit and told him “no thanks.” He left and thankfully took no as an answer. Literally the next Sunday, a different man said something worse. He says “Are you a single lady?” I replied “Sorry, I don’t swing that way.” He disgustingly says “Even better.” The look in his eyes made it worse. I just laugh uncomfortably and he leaves. Again thankfully he took no for an answer.

"You faked it for attention!" after I gave birth at home then bled out and had a few seizures, definitely saw the light and was rushed to the ER for emergency surgery nobody knew I'd come out of. "You're a lazy pos loser. Our daughter would be better off without you!" as I sat their breastfeeding for the 1000th time and crying. Yeah, I left traumatized af. I'm better now 😊

Met a guy once who insisted he could tell *by voice* whether a woman had been abused as a child, and at what age. Like, by how we spoke.

I walked into a bar once when I was 36yo , hadn’t said a word, just waiting at the bar to order a drink. Man around 25 walked up next to me, lent on the bar and said”I could stab you in the guts if I wanted to” ………. Yeah I went to a different bar asap lol
