my first cat was a 1960 Dodge Phoenix, think dart.... it had fins, anyway it had buttons that shifted the trans on the dash.. never had an issue with those buttons... slant 6 ran great every now and again would have to pull off the road and beat on the carb to unstick the float

Good diagnose . I´ve seen this on Saab several times - Funny things wheel bearings . no noise they have play and when they make noise there´s no play
@CumminsDriver1004 жыл бұрын
Lol how true! Drives me nuts! Heard a noise on my 04 Ram the whole first summer I had it. Checked them all several times...couldn't find it. Then one day I get a block from home and felt one of the front wheels about to fall off. Of course it failed the coldest day of that winter.

Same here, keep it simple. For instance some evap systems. A good chevy system works fine easy to diag most important cheap to repair. I'll diagnose anything but it p#sses me off when the over complicate something so simple. It's almost like they don't want you to repair it.

Thanks for the video Joe. I had a 2020 Colorado indicate left front ABS sensor. I showed the customer where his brand new truck didn't have the screw tightened down and he sensor was sticking up 1/4 out of the hole. works good now

Joe, all too often the most important part of a diag is not performed (and I love how you stress this repeatedly): the visual inspection. Too often, at least in my experience here in Cleveland, if a code is thrown most techs around me just assume what's thrown must be bad (and this goes for DIYers too). I wholeheartedly agree with you.... LOOK AT THE DAMN THING FIRST..... you can often find the problem by just looking at it and then thinking about how the code could be thrown(got this from Ivan..... the criteria for the code to be thrown).

This happened to me on my 98 F-150 when I still had it about 10 years ago. The right front bearing had a ton of play in it yet not making any noise at all, strange. Had it at a muffler shop doing some exhaust work. They said well we can fix your exhaust, the other problem we have to talk about is your right front wheel is about to fall off, couldn't believe how bad it was.

Checking vehicles over regularly is so important man.

A bad wheel bearing preventing you from going into gear. Crazy. Fca products are so strict about what gear they're in, most models have a simple neutral over ride but others like the charger for example require you to remove a panel that you can't put back properly because it's glued in from the factory, and half the time you can't even pull the lever without breaking it. Whenever I do an alignment on those I install the brake depressor just enough to activate the brake pedal switch while still being able to roll the vehicle. As long as it thinks your foot is on the brake it will stay in neutral all day long. Good video joe

Lol actually no. That was me being dumb. All the other symptoms though. When I went to move it I didn't have the door closed all the way. Bug dummy, I know.
@firstlast---4 жыл бұрын
@@JoesAutoElectric Yep that will do it lol. I still think the auto park thing is way too strict, what happens if you're going through a car wash and theres a malfunction? I can't imagine it would be good to suddenly get thrown into park when the tracks are still moving

I had a 2001 alero. Driving to JFK Airport the warning lights lit up like a Christmas tree. ABS, Brake, etc.. scared the crap out of me. Turned out to be a broken wire going to the right front speed sensor. After I fixed it there were no codes present.

That's a great job of putting together the clues, and it makes sense to fix what you know is broke before going further. Typical Fiat-Chrysler, a bad wheel bearing when it's only 7 years old. And my landlord just bought a brand new $60K Ram dually...

Hey Joe I appreciate your videos sir I've recently replaced both of my hubs and both of my back speed sensors and I'm still having the same problem. Could my back wheel bearings be out and make my speed sensors not read correctly cause they are brand new? I guess I gotta go back to the common sense thing and maybe we'll go to backtires.

@tallll703 жыл бұрын
Quality control works for assemblies and post build functionality, they have no way to control quality of random bearing failures made by suppliers like Timken, SKF... Those are standard manufactures used by many car makers even high performance builds
