136 kilometers from the city where I live in Brazil, there is a small town called Treze Tílias (Dreizehnlinden) with 10 thousand inhabitants (all Tyrolean descendants), founded in 1933 by the former minister (1924-29) of Austrian agriculture Andreas Thaler ( Bundesminister für Land- und Forstwirtschaft). They still speak ancient dialects from their hometowns and brew excellent beer there. This Andreas Thaler was anti-Semitic, but here in Brazil he stayed quiet hahaha. In the city where I live, we are descendants of Ukrainians, Poles, Germans and Italians, although foreigners think that all Brazilians are black, dance and play samba, there is practically no carnival in this region of Brazil. This is just a curiosity, it does not mean that it is better or worse than other Brazilian regions. We also have excellent cutlers/blacksmiths here.

It's 52100 which is pretty good on its own but the interesting thing is it is heat treated to produce bainite which is a steel structure that is very tough.

I know I'm repeating myself, but I would love to see you get a hold of the Buck 653 Nighthawk and see the abuse it would take. It is a saber grind tanto and 1/4" all the way to the tip. I seriously think it would outperform most of these blades. But again, you'd have to find one which might be difficult.

My favorite so far for camping and field has been the south African cold steel bear Bowie and one of their folders you couldn't break.
