This is a PSA...This week I bought my first Cold Steel knifes after watching Joe X the past 3 years and I'm glad I waited. Why you ask ? Because I'm seeing insanely cheap prices on some great blades. I think GSM is clearancing out models that are to be discontinued but who really knows. I bought ONE AD-10 Drop Point in Aus10A, Made In Taiwan, for $39.00 ( Normally $95+), THREE CS Verdict models in 4116 steel for a ridiculous price of $15 each ( Normally $50+) also Taiwan, and I bought TWO GI Tantos 1055 Carbon for $21 each (Normally $40 USD). All at MIdwayUSA, which I've honestly never purchased anything from in the past.. By the way, the AD-10 in AUS10A is a small tank, I Absolutely Love It. Joe X Forever !! 💪🗡🔪🍺

I was able to snag a South African version last year after calling about 4 or 5 retailers and asking if they would check their stock. Some still had 'South Africa' listed, but the blades in stock were the China variant - and some stores were not aware of the change. Some may still have the old version in stock, but it pays to call and check. Loved how you could just punch 5.56 holes in the old one, sure it was like butter, but zombie apocalypse approved and you could sharpen on a rock.

I'm headache about handle broke Handle should use composite plastic with rubber. (i'm not sure it call thermoplastic or something ?) may be better from unbox. I have 1 with 65Mn blade material (Ker**** from china ) it have really good edge retention (for work not for fight).

I think the Kershaw camp 10 is made from the same 65Mn steel. Just re-watch your test on that blade and the handle came off that knife as well but did not break like the Cold steel. I think the Kershaw heat treatment was not high as the CS and maybe the blade was a little thicker. I'm far a knife steel guy, Joe would be good to hear what do you think is the difference is.

​Esee Junglas or the kabar Becker BK9. Either one is a good choice. Have both and they're excellent. You'll get more value with the Junglas though. Excellent kydex sheath and micarta or G10 scales where the Becker BK9 you'll probably want to o upgrade the plastic scales and sheath. ​@@Nick-lm5lz

How many knives have held up to Mr. Joe's punishment without damage? Most of us won't test our tools to this level. Remember, Joe kills blades for a living. He profits from those failures. I've been restoring and collecting since 1974, and have amassed a 600+ piece collection. I don't claim to know it all, but no knife can take Joe's abuse unscathed. Yes for $25 USD. The handle scale material should have been carbon fiber or fat carbon. Blade material should have been Delta 3V or CruWear, with top-of-the-line heat treat. Come on Cold Steel stop being so cheap on us. $25 is a lot of money in todays economy!

I don't think the steel is very hard, it's just brittle. The breaks make me think they cooked the steel to death too. Maybe they think better heat treatment means more heat. Even though that stuff is air hardening and should be ready to go from the factory. Could it be crap from the steel factory already? That would be bad.

The lesson is. Visit local used goods fairs, go to pawnshops and buy an old, proven model, if it's younger than 2020, don't buy it. I'm not a fan of that manufacturer, I only have one blade made in USA carbon V. Maybe I'll buy one of the collapsible xxl models, but it certainly won't be from GSM.
