It's so frustrating & incongruous to me that humans are both the most feared predator & destroyer of so many species yet also (unfortunately a much smaller percentage of humans) the caretakers & protectors of so many species. This made me cry. I remember when he was still by himself in clamtopia. I would fall asleep with my laptop next to my head on the live feed. Joey slept the same time I did so if I woke up for a moment at 3 am I would look over ap my laptop and see the floof sleeping like he was in the room with me. He helped through the most isolated months of my life and I am so happy he has helped others and is thriving in his forever home. Thanks for all you have done not just for Joey but for the internet population who were blessed to take part in watching him grow 24/7. I love you Joey Boi.❤❤❤🦦

'Our' dear Joey. I watched him for hours, every single day. He was a part of my life in 2020. Once he got bigger and was with the others, I had trouble knowing which one was him. No matter, they were all fun to watch. I hate to admit it, but as 2021 rolled along, I got busier and had less time to spend watching the sea otters. The time flew by, and I forgot when Joey's 1st birthday was. It was very nice to watch him on this video, and yes, it brought tears to my eyes as well. Thank you all at the MMRC and VanAqua...for all that you do for all of the sea animals. It was a special time in our lives. Belated happy birthday, Joey!

At the start of the pandemic, my mom and I didn't have sanitary/safe housing. We were totally isolating from other people but the dirty air and water damage in the apartment building were gradually making us both sick. I wasn't sure if we were both going to make it out, and that's around the time we found Joey. He was such a bright spot in a dark place. We are safe now and we still check on our boi every day. Our sweet, sleek, soft boi.

I too was in tears watching this tribute. I'm still not sure how Joey showed up on my computer screen, but from the first moment of the first video, I was hooked. There is just something so special about that little fellow. Since then, every day I spend a little time checking in on Joey and his friends. Getting to know all of the Vanaqua otters and watching them play, sleep, eat, and wrestle is a treat that I cherish.

Joey showed up in my recommendations on KZbin just when I needed him most. I had been stuck at home due to my increased risk if I got COVID with my disability. I was lonely and had recently loss several close friends. Joey brightened up my days and gave me something to look forward to each day. Thank you Joey, KP, and the Vanaqua community. As an essential worker in healthcare, Joey definitely kept me sane in 2020. I am so glad I clicked on that youtube recommendation about a week after the stream went up. Those otters were my support animals. If you had told me in May of 2020 that I would be fangirling a family of otters in a Canadian aquarium for a year, I would have thought you were crazy. On a side note, I want to commend you KP on the quality of your videos. I really appreciate all the work you put into making them. You do a great job!

I'm one from NYC. Found Joey live on you tube first of August at the start, watched him daily, adopted him with everyone else and felt like I was helping raise him. He brought me a sense of calm and daily smiles. Watching him, the live streams didn't have sound, hearing Joey's voice here gave me a huge smile, I had no idea the sweet, little guy was so loud! Thank you to the Marine Mammal Rescue in Vancouver for all they do to save these beautiful animals who bring us all joy, the staff is amazing. Thank you for the live stream of Joey from the start, then his otter friends, for KP's beautiful video here and the beautiful background music. And especially Joey! The ending brought me tears, I feel like saying "we did it, we all did it!"

I don't remember how Joey's live feed came across my recommended, but I was immediately hooked. I'd check in on him daily, watching him wiggle, meep, and monch on ice. The naming of his toys, and subsequently his kingdom, watching his first interactions with otters. I'd send screenshots and clips to my friend. Every time his picture was posted on Reddit I would link his live cam. Joey really did save 2020. Although I'm working again and can't spend hours watching him, I do check in on him from time to time. 🥰

I was in a dark mood because I started to believe that I really don't care, when I decided to just flip channel like on KZbin because I was bored and terrified. Then I saw Joey's baby picture and read something about him being rescued. Normally, I would just keep scrolling but I didn't. Because, he looked so adorable and I always liked otters because as I learned their intelligence and loyalty I grew attached to them. It didn't take long for me to hurt when I see Joey helpless, laugh as I watch him wiggle, and releaved to know he's going to be okay and the caretakers are devoted to him. Joey proved me and many others wrong that I don't have a heart. It helped me to stay optimistic and continue my role in life (prove others wrong). Unfortunately, I can't adopt but I will THANK you Joey and his caretakers for helping everyone through the time crisis.

2020 was a year where we needed to witness kindness and generosity. While this channel showed Joey the seal, I was watching the rescue of Khanyisa the baby elephant and the daily rescue of sea lions ensnared in fishing lines and other plastics. There is a wonderful world out there benefitting from good acts.

Beautiful video that brought a tear to my eye. I found Joey via a KZbin recommendation and soon found myself watching daily. Curiosity sent me searching for more info and I found my way to Discord, Twitch and your channels.
