Now days the salesman makes money off of the gross from the car ( front end gross ) and from the financing and aftermarket products ( back end gross ) . Usually people make 100 - 400 on each car sold. I would say 8 - 16 cars is average per month. Real pros can make higher commissions and sell more cars. Some sales people cant even make money and actually go into debt to the dealership and have to quit which is very common.

Leasing is the better option for all the reasons Joey says. EXCEPT for when you can't stay under the mileage limit. Which for me and 90% of drivers, unreasonable

Damn Joey, Lease, for real...that is the worst racket ever. Pay up front for depreciation, then do not drive over 36k or it is $$$, then inspect car for wear, dents, dings....but you can buy it if you owe too much. Ha ha

Generally a choice of ease over the financial best deal. If you want to switch cars frequently leasing is a much easier option versus having to spend the time haggling to sell your car to cover whatever you owe on it every few years, especially if you factor in that a lot of people nowadays won’t purchase expensive cars from private sellers unless it gets them a healthy discount compared to what they’d pay at a dealer. At least that’s the way it goes where I live.
