Sales is a great occupation for someone who loves people, if the commissions are fair and transparent and the products are true .... Most people who walk into a dealership, whatever the product is, want to buy. The person selling to them holds the key whether their money is spent there or elsewhere. People like to buy from a buddy. Be their buddy and move the customer towards the goal of them handing over their license and credit card. Try to like them

To survive in sales, you need to be addicted to getting turned down and then turning it into a sale. I couldn't be that guy. I tried to sell electricity to people who already had it, just had to change carriers. Well, after 2 weeks and walking 200 miles in the streets I didn't sell shit lol. Depressing work to have 50% of people cut me off mid sentence and ask me to leave. You have to have a different mindset to interact with humans on a level that the whole goal of interacting with them is to suck the money out of them and make the sale. I just couldn't do it. To enter conversation with the pretext of eventually fucking them over for a living. To be honest, I was happier washing dishes. And to listen to my boss tell people they are to be fired if they don't make quota's on a cell phone with everyone listening - fuck all that. So degrating to say " Yes, sir, I believe the company we work for is making a difference and I believe in out company's direction and training". Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck that shit.
@beckermatthew287 жыл бұрын
How about trying to sell something to people that will benefit them? People gotta fucking eat so if you think its degrating theres another guy willing to do it for double the work and time you did for half the pay. Do what you gotta do. They profit off dumbasses and pay no mind to the smart people who hang up or shut the door on them. Its nothing personal and if the dumbass who just spent over 300 dollars worth of bets for a sports game ended up losing it all -- Whos fault is it? The guy trying to make some money and spending his days working or the embarrassed dumbass who was sitting on his couch looking to get other people to make money for him? Any way you look at it wont stop the world from moving and the smart people from making the best out of any situation

Matt Chaps I bust my ass as a salesman. You're right, it's ALOT of no's, but it's good money when you rep the right item for the right company. Remember that a .300 average is superstar closing ratio. Hell Ty Cobb retired with a record in hits, and he failed almost 7 out of every 10 at bats
@thegutpunch17266 жыл бұрын
That's not what selling is or is supposed to be. Generally, people buy things they need want and/or need. Nobody buys a car, house, boat, jet, diamond, securities, furniture, pet supplies, golf clubs, custom suits, paint, cutlery, cameras, musical instruments, dental porcelain veneers, whatever it is. You're not selling as much as you're helping people buy. The "selling" part is trying to get the prospect to buy from you. But they're going to buy what they want from someone. Now true, if it's a big ticket item someone may reconsider for whatever reason. The last time you bought a suit did you willingly and knowingly visit a department store or custom Clothier? Or, did you just show up some place unaware? Of course, you wanted a suit. And you probably wanted someone who could guide you and give some consultation. The goal of which was to help you make a smart buying decision. Weren't you knocking on doors to help save people money on their electricity? Well, if they didn't know you were coming then that could feel invasive. But if they requested a visit then you should never feel like a slimeball. They expressed at least some interest in what you were offering. You should watch some Grant Cardone training of Marc Wayshak, of the Salesman Podcast, or Brian Maxwell and Tony Swedberg, or Dan Lok. Just to name a few.
@thegutpunch17266 жыл бұрын
I meant nobody buys any of the aforementioned things if they don't see value in them. So they either want/need or both.

no one likes to be convinced to buy something. they prefer to feel confident about knowing what they need and realize that you can provide those goods or services. just like dating. there doesn't have to be anything scumbagy about sales; unless your product sucks of course.
@redram51506 жыл бұрын
Sales isn't there to shove you into an item you don't want. Their job is to show you the product they're selling will fill a need in your life and build value. If a sales department was nothing more than a sign up sheet, businesses wouldn't have nearly the success they'd have with a staffed sales department. Customers are fickle liars. Sales focuses their desire into an actual good or service

I sold cars for 6 months and left to do sales in a different industry. But the hardest part for me, as an 18 year old, was getting people to take me seriously - especially since a car is the 2nd biggest purchase of most people’s lives

In 2006 while in college I sold doors, door to door(ok,it was actually residential alarm monitoring). It was fun and with sales law of averages says that for every 10 people you ask to buy something one of them will say yes and people LOVE buying things. I read all the one minute closer and art of the deal books and with peer coaching I learned a lot but after graduating I was tired of other people's budget dictating my check and said I'm done. Gonna leave this to the 50 somethings making $3500 a week and spending $4200 a weekend to keep pitching.

I thought joey was bullshitting also, until you see videos of people who use to hang around with him, and they vouch for him. In the mad flavors world season one finale video, they go into a Chinese restaurant, and he runs into a guy that was like 30 years old, but joey knew him since he was 8. And he talked about getting stabbed, and the guy remembered it, at a certain point, if he was lying, someone would have made a video who use to know him, and they would have called him out for lying. Ive yet to see that. When you're a coke addict for 30 years, everything you say could be lies, or the absolute truth. With joey, I think its the truth. 100%
