I paid £40 for this faulty Nintendo Switch. The condition is pretty good considering the price, however it doesn't turn on! Can we use our expertise from previous jobs to fix this and sell it for profit?

At 6:20 you say "that side is fine" but for me it seems that the two rightmost pins also do not look ok. (the side with the 3 yellow caps next to each other)

Tip for you joey when doing M92 . Pre tin the ic then you won't have to worry about connections as will flow perfectly first time

@@JoeyDoesTech will make your life alot easier that's for sure. Any ic you replace always pre tin. This way you can be sure that the solder on the pads will adhere to the pins

First repair I did for a switch was the usb-c port. I damaged the pads a bit fighting some solder but it all worked out at the end.

Sitting here talking to my screen "Why is he testing with the port still on", You came around to it but made me laugh at my own reaction 😂 On QFN chips you do not need to join the solder to the alignment points on those chips. They are just for alignment. If it is flat and aligned your connected. Might save you some grief down the road. It looks sexy but it's not worth the risk of bridging caps, or knocking them IMO.
@JoeyDoesTech
@JoeyDoesTech 2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha sometimes I actually have you in the back of my head when resting whilst the port is still on! That’s made me giggle. Yeah, I think the ocd side of me likes the thought of it looking sexy all the way around to be honest, but good to know they don’t have to be connected :)

I think the issue why switch charging ports fail is couse people uses phone cheap charging usb c cables and they break the port down, yes it is tedious to remove the psu from the dock every time you want to play in portable mode but the port is gonna be much more reliable if you do it

It seems the connection (last 2 pins on the right) on the other side of the chip was dodgy also. at 6:19 So was it necessary to replace that chip again?

It depends on the chip :) some of the caps are around 10p sometimes even less. M92 power chip can be £7 depending on where you get it from :)
