Please tell me you are reading the manga from Tokyo Ghoul and not watching the anime. Ok I need to give context about this: Season 1: Fire as hell. Fine pace of development. Good. Season 2: Don't. It's like if a kid is pushing all the books into the backpack at once. You know something is happening but at the same time you don't understand it completely. Also, it skips a LOT of important details. This is why many recommend to read the manga for this one. Season 2 is still good animated, but animation doesn't mean good development. P.S.: Do react to the opening from 'Domestic Na Kanojo'. And perhaps to one or two openings from 'Saint Seiya' in latin spanish. The one I really want to see you reacting to is 'Blue Dream'

3:55 I understand why you would think that "electric guitar" almost sound's like a bass. That actually IS the bass with an effect on it. In western music the bass is often reduced to making the guitar sound more powerfull. But in japanese music the bass is as important as the electric guitar and that makes such a difference. Listen to a lot of japanese music and tell me the bass is not what makes it special. Japan has many extraordinary musicians on every instrument, but nothing you couldn't also find a bunch of in the west, except for the bass. No other country has such a high saturation of great bass players, to the degree that a bass casually stealing the show becomes as normal as a guitar solo in metal.

This opening is just a form of Art. It does so many things right. There's a message, both philosophical and story-based, supported by the chaotic tone shifts, executed by the amazings artists of the song, and it's just a very good OP in general to let you understand the story.

This is my favorite anime op. Not only it is an amazing song with an amazing voice but the way the lyrics completely relate to the tragedy of the show and to the emotions of the main character. It's so good because not only it hypes you up but while you watch every episode it gets sadder and sadder and the anime makes you relate to the ups and downs and each episode you understand better the op. Idk, to me it's just 10/10, perfection.

The music symbolizes Kaneki's development as a character in season 1 through 2 perfectly. Kaneki finally realizes the fundamental truth that: "It's better to be able to be cruel than to not be cruel at all, because if you are not capable of cruelty, you are absolutely a victim to anyone who is." -Jordan Peterson. Spoilers ahead: This quote hits even harder once people understand the finale of Season 2 and Kaneki beating Jason. It also really fits well with the fact that since he didn't choose who to die at Jason's hands, both the wife and husband hostage died. Not to mention his mom's philosophy of "better to be hurt than to inflict it on others" literally allowed her to be a victim to the cruelty of Kaneki's aunt who caused Kaneki's mom to overwork herself to death.

@@rados1aw I watched TG right after AoT just like you lol. Anyway, TG manga is very good, but sadly it can't be said the same for its anime adaptation, because it skips a lot and the whole middle arc got senselessly remade. Still the best part is its fan base is very nice and open-minded and they sincerely admit the anime is pretty shitty compared to the source lmao. But let me give you an advise: even if it becomes a mess, don't quit: if TG fascinates you and you want the better version you can always read the manga (even online for free), otherwise you can still judicate it according to your own impression; and consider that you can also join the minority which considers it a great anime, so you won't be alone :D (not my case tbh, but it doesn't matter). @@neerajbisht421 I didn’t actually know about the memes but now I’m curious about that too. I’m also not a new anime fan as I grew up with it. Originally someone had recommended the anime and had said the opening song was really good but I thought the first season was really good but then went a bit downhill after that. I then started reading online that the anime strayed far from the manga and now it is on my to read list and I’m excited to see what is was meant to be like. I’ll read the manga while listening to the soundtrack for the best experience

@@carmscozycorner1111 the first two seasons were pretty good in terms of adaptation but after that they skipped a lot of chapters from the manga which made it very hard for the only anime viewers to understand what was actually going on .... Like Kaneki's hair changes' meaning and all and the Eto arc etc. The manga is one among the best mangas of all time in my opinion so it is a must read and also the other openings apart from Unravel are also pretty great especially Katharsis. Nice to know you're an og anime fan. Ahh also the song is used in memes to make them sound really sad and heartbroken kinda.

As much as I love this version of the song, the acoustic is probably in my top 5 songs of all time

oh man if you liked this you'd absolutely love the live version of this song from The First Take channel. That one right there really shows the mastery and emotion TK has in his voice.
