Finally thank you! Also a fun fact. When Cruyff was 37 he got into a fight with Ajax board so he went to their main rivals Feyenoord. He won them the league for the first time in 15 years at the age of 37.

Cruyff's footprint on football is larger then any other player not only becuase of his footballing skills but his football philosophy that changed the game forever. No person has had more of a hand in the development of the game as him.

@TheGiorgi7 It's well known in The Netherlands that Cruyff would often overrule many decisions Michels made after he would leave the dressing room and apply his own gameplan in the Dutch National Squad and Ajax. Total Football was Cruyff's brain child and he has the managerial skills and succeses where ever he went as a captain and coach to prove it. His footballing skills are all on film and if you don't believe me watch Maradona talk about him and The Dutch National Squad in 74 or any other Legend who saw him play.

My favorite player of all time, Neymar is my favorite player in the modern game but there’s just something about Cruyff. Smartest player on every pitch he stepped on, skills and tricks are fun but you can’t teach football intelligence & he might be the best in that regard ever. The way he moved with the ball, that only comes around once in a generation. Pele and Maradona were fantastic players but I think it’s fare to say Cruyff is the best/ most influential player/ coach with how he played then how he changed the game tactically. Great video. Cruijff is one of my favorite historic players. I would highly recommend the "Football's Greatest" episode on Johan. Rinus Michels should also be mentioned in coaching Cruijff. It was Michels who created the total football philosophy, Cruijff perfected it on the pitch.

As much as I love the game, I never learned about Cruyff until I just finished reading the book, “The Barcelona Complex,” which I recommend everyone read. The author has Cruyff as a central part of his book, and talks much about his career as a player and a coach. The author shows how crucial Cruyff was in helping form the game as we know it now. How he helped make FC Barcelona the mega giant of a team they’ve become today. It also mentions at the end its potential downfall that we currently see with the team. But if Cruyff never joined Barcelona, we wouldn’t have seen Messi, Pep Guardiola wouldn’t have played or coached the team either. It was an amazing read and a clear understanding of how Barcelona came to be just because of Cruyff.

Maradona was mesmerized by Cruyff and the orange team in 1974, being 12 or 13 years old at that time! As was the whole world, in sheer admiration, because here was something new. They were the best team in that period as Cruyff was the best player in the world. He did not care much about that title, he allways talked about the game, in the microscopic detail.

Watching his highlights I definitely know what dribbling Messi designed his from because holy shit Cruyff was definitely the original. The similarities on how they dribble is insanely similar and Cruyff was doing that in the tines of old.
