Yup, it's still a beauty. I wish it were mine. Back in the 80's/90's I was still riding a steel frame Peugeot with toe clip pedals, a 6 clog rear cassette 12/26 with Shimano Tourney derailleurs and down tube shifters.

I'm 43 and this bike takes me right back. I was fortunate to ride a C40 many times "back in the day." Loved the frame, never really loved the forks and the front end geometry on the Colnago bikes at the time to be honest. Another frame from that era that was just mega, albeit somewhat less iconic, would be the Bianchi 110th Anniversary Titanium. Spectacular bike. Impossible to get. Thanks Si for paying respects to such an iconic and great bike!

As a 5 year old kid back in 1995, it was my fathers first full carbon bike and I fell in love with the quatrefoil top tube at the time. I have just a few days ago managed to buy the same frame that has been my poster frame for as long as I can remember - Clear coat black carbon with yellow liveries. Bucketlist item #1 in the bag. Next on the list is a pair of retro campagnolo shamals. All the money saved buying Chinese carbon (no regrets) has been put to fantastic use and secured me my childhood dream bike.

We were born the same year then. So, do you still have your C40 and what is the verdict?
@suhdud4646 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I still do have the C40 and my old man takes it out once a week during his group rides until I get back in town. He still to this day tells me how its the most comfortable bike his ridden.@@tommyfreckmann6857

Great looking bike and one that I need to add to my list to do. Just finished a Colnago Master Piu and love it so much so that I'd put it over any new carbon ride! Thanks for the video Si, all the best Andy

Dura Ace 7700 cranks were not hollow, they were in fact solid aluminium. It was the Octalink bottom bracket spindle that was hollow, the original 'HollowTech', before 'HollowTech II' with it's hollow arms and integrated hollow spindle arrived in 2003 in the form of Dura Ace 7800!

similar lug method Colnago and BMC use, in todays peleton, love the look of the UAE bike
@paullewis26777 жыл бұрын
Si - you mentioned custom geometry and in particular the seat tube angle, but as far as I'm aware the lugs don't change shape (i.e. the socket angles are fixed), so Colnago can make the frame bigger or smaller in very specific increments but they do not change the angles of the tubes. Could you clarify this please? #torqueback

So, now it's an 8 speed! In the previous video, it was a 9 speed!
@jamesheath48457 жыл бұрын
I thought that until recently. I was truing an 8 speed wheel in a 9 speed bike, and decided to shift through the cassette just to see, and it inexplicably worked perfectly. there was an extra shift half way through the cassette, but it ran silently. i don't know why, but it does work

Those “little seen” Shimano DA seat posts were pretty, but the super thin mast can fail spectacularly. I was just looping around waiting for buddies in a parking lot when suddenly the saddle parted ways from the bike! Very short ride that day. Just lucky I am still a tenor...

That bike would weigh in around 16.5 - 17.5 ish. None of those parts are particularly feathery, but they were strong and durable. as the weight goes for this era, with tubulars, 28 front radial laced, 32 rear, it was pretty avg weight especially with the added carbon for stiffness.
