E flat minor in spite E-Flat major for signature. First subject ends in F Sharp Major with two sharps, denoting either B Minor or D Major. Hummel was a fun guy.

Apparently the practice of notating flat minor keys with the key signature of their parallel majors was once quite common, and it was known to a composer as late as Verdi in the 1850s. Both Rigoletto and La traviata end in D-flat minor. Today, we would regard D-flat minor as a theoretical key and ask Verdi to use C-sharp minor instead. But Verdi managed to pull it off by notating it as D-flat major with accidentals.

You should listen to Hummel's piano trios: in some of them the tempo is REALLY fast!
