I'm playing an amazing 1980s Marshall JMP Super Lead that has been rebuilt by the great Tommy Folkesson into his MkVII mod. I'm using both Les Paul and Stratocaster. I'm playing the amp through a Marshall Fullstack with 1976 G12H30 55Hz Blackbacks and 1973 G12M25 75Hz Pulsonic Greenbacks

Great demo Johan! Tommy is genius. He gets lots of critics of many for modding old Marshalls. In my opinion, everyone can decide what they want to do with their own amp. Myself, i have a 1986 2210 that i owned for many years. I never been happy with the sound and not versatile. I first had Tommy mod it to mark VI, later upgraded it to mark VII. For me it is now the perfect amp😊 In live settings specially, as you can set each channels separatly. Rock on Johan🤟👍😊

@@Turboy65 for shits and giggles to get up the craw of my niece, I demonstrated how we use to burn a wine cork and then draw it all over our face for Halloween for a makeshift pirate costume. She was not amused, I then showed it to my older nephew in his mid 20’s and he lost his shit altogether. He was trying to school me on racism. I told him I wasn’t about making other minorities feel bad, but some shit has gone too far. I referred to group of people as Orientals in a coffee shop, he tried schooling me again until I told him to buzz off. I told the both of them they wouldn’t last 30 seconds growing up in the 70s & 80s.

@@voxpathfinder15r DID you hear about the 1 in the UK some years back where a dude in a cafe was playing a covers gig, he did the song 'Kung-fu Fighting', & got arrested for it, cos a Chinese family walking PAST said cafe heard him singing it, and called the police, and they bloody ARESTED him for 'disturbing the peace & anti-social behaviour'!

@@DMSProduktions totally crazy! I was watching repeats of Quantum Leap, the original series. And one episode they censored out all references to, negro. Didn’t know that was considered racist. I have a friend that is an entomology professor. During his tenure period he inked out references to a “negro” bug in the textbooks he handed out. He self-censored in fear of some social justice warrior bitch would make noise and hurt his tenure process.

Great Johan and thanks to Tommy for each your own ways of chasing sweetness on tones. If you have ever built a Marshall or Fender like or understand, how the circuits are designed, Tommy's explanation of what happens at what stage made sense. Finally Johan got to "flogging the horse" Fine entertainment to the ears. Cheers Johan and Tommy

A lot of guys including myself early on were looking for the "Right sounding" vintage Marshall amp and so many people along the way were modding these amps to sound like "Fuzz boxes" when I stumbled upon something, it was an amp that sounded amazing with a pedal, most amps don't sound good with a pedal they are raspy and fatigue the ears, but once in a while a blind squirrel finds a nut and the right preamp circuit is available and you try a pedal and glorious tone now all my circuits are voiced smooth to accept and utilize your favorite boost pedal, the pedal is the fuzz box not the amp

Johan the Crunch Meister still brought out the best from this amp except at 10:30 it flubbed just in the one setting but what amp doesn't have a breaking point.its still a great hi gain crunch version of marsh.sound.some trade offs in staging but great effort.if this was a preamp pedal I would add it in a heartbeat

Cannot say that I like that amp at all. It's lost all the Marshall magic and raunch. It's edgy and tight in a bad way. Very clinical. I also don't understand why someone would ruin an old classic amp like that. Why not just build your amp from scratch? Good demo of what it's capable of though as always, Johan.

Thanks glad you like the demo. I think a Folkesson vintage Marshall goes for more money than an untouched Marshall today. Tommy and I actually discuss the fact that it isn’t uncomplicated to modify these classics in a previous interview here on the channel. Cheers

I heard of Folkesson doing a mini output section to add output tube gain BUT at line level just for TONE - output tube distortion BEFORE the real Amp section . Is this true on some of Folkesson's designs ?

I know what your hearing its a crunch voicing with higher gain without the usual interstage hi end cutting to minimize the upper hi mids its more wild in that there is a sweetspot in there but beyond its a wildcat .an upfront eq pedal can tame this somewhat

I have a request! There is or was a band from Gothenburg with a cool guitar tone, very unique tone! The amp was not a stock Marshall and I have never hear that tone from anyone else. The band's name was Swedish erotica. I can't find anything about the amp. Can you look at it?

Get a Mesa boogie instead of butchering up that old classic. I can agree it sounds great, but the "plexi-tone" is gone. The value of the amp is also affected, as it's not original anymore. It can be built back to stock, but the holes drilled in the chassis will forever make it worth less for a collector. I also hate people putting EMG pickups on a vintage strat. I don't mean to be harsh, just my opinion. Anyway, keep 'em coming Johan!
