I finally got the JCW Brembo big brake kit for the F56 Mini Cooper! In this video I will be unboxing and installing the kit. The car was then towed to MINI for programming for the BBK and the system to be bled on the machine. Thanks for watching!!!

hahaha, remember this from when i bought this for my S, those discs are Heavy !!! they are zimmerman disc's not expensive to replace if u need. the best update /mod i ever did on mini.

Great video! These are an essential upgrade for the S, I’ve had Audi /BMW all my life and the brakes on the mini are terrible. Tail wagging on high speed emergency stops and cooking themselves after a few hills. I’m in Europe and you can buy this kit direct from BMW in Bavaria for €800 plus delivery. I had local specialist do the install and boy do they get noticed!

i have the same studs coversion on my mini F54. Do I have to remove the studs first before removing the rotor?

Was the dust guard the same size or larger? Looked the same in the video. Wondering if i could get away with only buying the calipers used and buying the pads and rotors separate from a local auto shop.

Dust guards are just that. You don’t NEED them either way. I don’t remember if it came with new ones or not. You could do as you’re saying and just remove the dust guards if they don’t fit

I’m not sure. I run a 17x7 and it clears but you have to watch for the face AND the barrel of the wheel

Nice vid Juliette. A couple of quick questions. I have a '16 MCS. Where did you get your BBK from? I live in NoCal. Also, you have a lot of support from friends and family on various projects. I am the opposite. Don't really know any wrench monkey, other than the techs at a local Mini dealer. How much time/cost to have the kit installed?

Bruce N I bought it from the dealer! Not sure the install cost! It’s a big project. The most difficult part was bleeding. They didn’t want to bleed for me so I took it to the dealer to get bled and programmed

@@JulietteHallie Thanks Juliette. I can get the kit from a dealer in Dallas for 1391 shipped. However, local dealers here in the Bay area want to charge from 720 to almost 2k to install it. Do you remember what the recommended total hours were from the installation instructions booklet. I am trying to find that document online and have not been successful. Josh Charlie the programming “adds pressure” to the lines for better performance. My car knew something was up when I changed them and gave me brake warning lights that were gonna after the programming

Good day Julie...what is the wheel diameter you are using that is receiving for those big brakes set up? The rotors and caliper look huge and masive compared to original, and i may think you had to go with spacer for avoiding wheel touch with calipers. Regulo Lopez hi! I run a a 17x7 et45, 17x7 et40 ans 18x8et45. All with a 4mm spacer. I had the spacer to clear my Coilovers originally. Not sure if I’d need them for the brakes but a 5-10mm would be safe in my opinion!

Thank you. What offset/size did you find was optimal with the JCW kit? Did you add a rear stabilizer and end links and have to adjust camber? Sorry for all the questions. Just seeking to accelerate my strategy with your insight.

@@ssaafur I had a rear sway bar anyways. But it’s not necessary. Same with camber. The brakes don’t affect anything in the suspension. I have a 40 and 45 offset. They need a 5mm spacer. I think it really depends on what you are looking for. Looks, performance, etc.

@@arnog9959 no it was the same. Mini coded mine to “add more pressure” to the brake lines. I’m not exactly sure if that’s true or not but it does say in the kit it needs to be coded

Abdulmajed Alrayes WHAAATTT !? It should be apart of it!! It needs to be programmed to add more pressure and not set off a brake light! It says it in the paper work with the brakes!

I don’t know it’s been years. If you ask your local dealer for a quote they usually give you a part number. If not I think* Way motor work has stock part numbers but I’m not 100-% sure

I think its great our doing your own work but do you understand how dangerous it is just working off a jack you had no defense if it was to fail and your legs were under the car it could of crushed you please invest in some stands or atheist shove your alloys under as some sort of defense
