the distance he takes that club back is phenomenal. And he still gets the face square. Respect to you Mr Daly.

Watching this just confirms to me he is one of, if not THE, most naturally talented golfer ever. That swing is so unique - as many have pointed out it’s so “anti-textbook” - almost no “recommended” positions throughout the entire swing - and yet it won multiple majors and tournaments around the world. All on a fraction of the practice and preparation of his contemporaries. He’s an absolute friggin genius.

Truly a work of art both the swing and the editing complication. Everyone mentions the unique back swing and coil, but i think its the low and left throw release coupled with incredible turn that allowed him to be a great. Post impact actually looks alot like DJ or David Duval back in the day.

Seeing his swing in slo-mo makes sense to me now. His belly quickly jerks back. Then, he starts his swing. His belly follows the swing by mere milliseconds! The amount of force his belly adds is amazing! I bet his swing would suffer if he went on a diet.
@kasper12412 жыл бұрын
Flat take away. Across the line on the top of back swing. But perfect impact position. John Daly is doing what works for him instead of chasing "the perfect swing". I have so much respect for that. People think his swing is long, but for him it's normal. It's all about timing. If you made his swing shorter it would completely mess up his timing and it would actually make his swing less controllable for him. It's like Montgomery always says: "Take time to complete your swing". And John's swing is not completed until it reaches the final position. That's just how it is.

I'm a complete novice still learning to hit the club face centre when swinging, so I'm picking up on what I see from how I swing. I've noticed his stance allows him to keep completely balanced and rotate around by dropping his left knee. Once he's ready to rip it, he stamps his heel to create balance and the rotation is in motion. On top of allowing so much room to rotate, it's simply incredibly how his timing is from backswing to clubface... (timing of hip, back leg rotation, release). After breaking it down like that I can understand where the statement "grip it and rip it" came from. I could be very off, but based from what I've learned, this is an incredible masterclass nonetheless.

Facinating to watch, in many ways. But don't confuse a flying right elbow and a folding left arm with flexibility or above average backswing turn.
@bendaniel3562 жыл бұрын
He does fold his left arm a bit at the top, but his torso is already rotated about 120 degrees at that point... But you are right that he's using a flying elbow and bend in his left arm to keep the club going back while the rest of his body is starting the downswing.
