Am I missing something? My manual does not mention removing or cleaning the screen at 50 hours. It does mention replacing the transmission filter. What’s up here?
@SometimeIsNow3 жыл бұрын
Hey ICT, Thanks for stopping by the channel. You are very correct and you’re not missing anything. The 50hr service does not require one to change/clean the transmission oil and screen filter or the front axle fluid but I did at 50 hrs due mainly from it’s been 4 years since the tractor was new and in those 50 hrs and I’ve worked it pretty hard over those 4 years moving alot of gravel piles and lifting heavy loads. In addition after reading all the JD forums I was noticing people were finding the fluids were very dirty so I decided to do all the 200hr requirements at 50hrs. Did you notice how many metal filings I recovered with the magnet probe from inside the transmission? I’m glad I changed everything, Wait till you see the oil that comes out of the front axle hubs in next Tuesdays video. Stay Tuned !! Take Care.👍🏼

@@SometimeIsNow Good tip. Mine is 2yrs old and hit 50hrs and I was used to the idea most all new machines should have fluids replaced since there's manufacturing shavings in every thing. Those 50hrs of mine are also hard worked. Was debating on waiting longer also but thinking do it now then it can wait 200hrs from this point on.

@@kevingebert4316 Thanks for stopping by the channel Kevin. I for one leaned on the side of caution when it came to the cost of a transmission compared to the cost of the fluid and filter. I’m thinking that getting the metal out of the oil so it doesn’t travel around inside is beneficial to a longer life to the trans. Take Care 👍🏼

@@cpm324 Hahahaha😁 I hear ya cpm324. I do use it in the summer once in a while. This summer I was doing a total garage remodel project so it didn’t see many hours again. I mostly have the tractor for easy snow removal in the winter months where it gets a few hours. Doing the service videos is mainly to help people out who are reserved on doing the work themselves to save some money. Most videos on KZbin show the beginning then skip so many steps, snap their fingers and show you the end result which isn’t helpful. Hopefully this video was helpful. Take Care and thanks for watching. 👍🏼

I do mine annually right after summertime as I don't use it nearly as much in the winter so usually about 150+ hours on it when I do it. When I first got it I did the 50 hour then I did it again at 150 hours and I've kept around that 150 hour mark since. It's a great little tractor, does way more than it was designed to do so it is worked hard but I make sure everything is greased well constantly (I use Superlube Grease) and air filter is cleaned and checked weekly and the most important is the radiator screen I clean that sometimes a couple times a day if I am brush hogging but generally clean it when I am done with it for the day. Haven't had any issues with it, it fires right up and does what I ask it to do which saves my back LOL! Great video, John Deere should pay you to use it for people buying a new one.

Thanks for stopping by to watch some videos. It’s appreciated. I don’t put many hrs on little johnny in the summer months unless I have a small project around the house here and there. All the hours mostly came from winter snow blowing but the past two winters I’ve only used it 2 times each season. I just looked the other day when I was moving some dirt and there’s not even 100 hrs on my tractor yet. lol I do make sure the air filter and radiator filter screen are always clean and clear. I change the oil and filter every season no matter what. Some would say it’s a waste but I say it’s cheap engine insurance as diesel oil gets dirty much quicker and contaminated with diesel fuel and soot due to the higher compression engine so I change it every season. Wouldn’t that be great to have John Deere pay me to drive their tractors.. 😁 I would love that. 👍🏼 Take Care and Think Green !!

Thanks for doing the video. I took mine in to the dealer to have this done, and after they completed the service I asked how much debris was on the internal filter screen. They informed me these tractors do not have an internal filter. So I had to show the tech he was incorrect. I’m going to try to do this myself this spring (and hopefully do it correctly.). You’ve made it appear like it’s no big deal. Thanks again.

Hey Michael, Thanks for stopping by the channel and for the kind words 👍🏼 It’s not a bad job at all. The toughest part was the two spring clips on the hose. Other than that. The 5 gallon pail of oil was pretty heavy. 😂 Take Care. 👍🏼

I thought my 2210 was the same as this? Guess not,I don't have that hose in the bottom and we don't have a dipstick we have a sight glass, I wonder if I do have a screen someplace else? I don't know but that hose on the bottom Definitely doesn't seem like an upgrade from the old set up 🤔 I'm the guy that was looking to possibly ride sleds this year I didn't realize that you were the same guy because I never subscribed to any tractor channels but have ckd videos out before 😆😆

Hahahahaha Welcome back.. and Yes.🤣 I do snowmobile and tractor videos, Plus the occasional RV resort video as well. I believe you have a point with the transmission, the double hose clamps and rubber wasn’t a upgrade but the dipstick I can live with. All in all it wasn’t to awful bad with this part of the service. When your ready to ride let me know 👍🏼

Great videos super helpful Three questions for you 1 - what size spanner did you use on the large fuel filter 2 - what type of oil filter wrench did you use on the Transmission filter looks like it’s a very effective as an adjustable cup especially on smooth filter bodies 3 - have you done a video on the second fuel filter (the small one) I did mine as well as it looked dirty but ended up a diesel shower Again great videos - awesome details - thank you for your efforts and expertise

Thanks for the links will look into them When I changed the small filter I looked every where for shut offs to no avail So took one for the team - fuel comes out fast 😮 Next time I need to change it will pinch off the lines to greatly minimize the mess There will be some spillage but not like I had Not to self wish I thought off crimping first
@SometimeIsNow Жыл бұрын
@@luisroth7309 Yes, That's what I would have done was use my hose clamp pliers to pinch off the fuel lines to minimize the fuel running all over the place. The worst is when I change my large fuel filter on our Diesel motorhome. I learned to put a large freezer ziplock bag around the filter when unscrewing it to catch all the diesel. Have I told you I hate diesel fuel all over everything. 🤣
