I own a 2018 Kubota BX 23S and do use the 3 point a lot. I believe a 23S is the same as a 2680 except it comes with factory installed loader and backhoe. If you look closely there are two stops for the 3 point lift that can be adjusted by reaching under the fender. They can be used to stop up or down, also can be used to hold lift lever in down position to float in the down position. Great for using tiller, blade, etc. At least, that's how my BX 23S works. Best video I've seen on these two machines. Good job.

I bought a tractor a little over a year ago. I had intended to buy a John Deere, hadn’t even thought about Kubota. While our house was being built I asked all the machinery operators their opinions. They all told me either a Kubota or a Deere but they cautioned me the Deere dealer wasn’t good. I started calling the parts departments to find out availability of common “breakage” parts. In almost every case one dealer had the parts in stock, the other could have it in in a week or so. The end result, based on dealer support, was I bought a Kubota L4701. It’s been a good machine, and when I snapped a brush hog blade I had a new set later that day. So... evaluate your dealers!

As the owner of multiple Kubota units from BX series all the way through L series and even the MX series each individual tractor has its certain uses . until buying my first John Deere last year we have now found that the largest and most notable difference between kubota and John deer is the #1 weight john deer, HEAVIER #2 hydraulic system capability stronger as shown at the END of the video, personally I find myself usually running for a John deer FIRST but if the ground is WET well then, go grab the kubota because I can usually get into the job SITE and out of the job SITE with very little problems, just my personal experience, love them both, GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REST

I'm interested in your thoughts on kubotas treadle pedal vs Deeres hydro pedals
@andysworld21885 жыл бұрын
When it comes to the peddles it's a matter of preference. There is a small advantage to the treadle peddle when you are turned around looking behind you. It's easier to switch back and forth from forward to backward with a treadle peddle. No matter which one you get you will get used to it quick.

I'd like to hear about this as well. I know he's used to the Deere, but how easy is it to 'get used to' the Kubota?
@_P0tat07_5 жыл бұрын
N Pooch getting used to how it works isn’t the problem. In my opinion at least. That problem for me lies in that it’s uncomfortable to roll your ankle forward and backward, as opposed to rocking on the heel of your foot to press a pedal.

You are correct on the 3 point analysis. I do rest my hand on the lever on my GC2300 keeping it just over center in the lowered position while tilling. And Kubota would do well to add an inch or two of arm length. My equipment doesn't fit well on a BX because of pto length and I also drag my feet on shortening shafts to fit someone else's tractor.

@matheweszenyi19785 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest reasons I do wish I owned a Deere, the mid mount. That said, sales and support at Pape was arrogant and dismissive. Make sure you take that into account when making a purchasing decision. PTI (Pacific Tractor and Implement) a local dealer is why I own a BX and not a Deere. They have always treated a little guy like me with respect and first class service.
@danbrown42055 жыл бұрын
Nice to see an honest review. Thanks. I'm a Kubota BX23S owner, but I don't have a bias one way or the other. My choice came down to the dealer and which one treated me the best. Kubota won. Dealer location wasn't an issue since the Deere and Kubota dealers are across the street from each other. I thought the lack of position control would be a big negative when selecting the BX. After some thought I realized that the vast majority of 3 point work on a subcompact the hitch is either fully up or down. Then came the problem with the hitch not floating back down due to terrain changes. By opening up the flow valve and riding the lever to compensate for the terrain, the implement stays engaged. Sounds like a lot to do, but it quickly becomes second nature. There are so many excellent tractor brands available it's hard to go wrong. The one thing that I see way too often is people chasing specs. To those that say "My tractor can lift more than yours", yet will never come anywhere close to pushing the tractor to it's limits, what's the point? Buy the tractor that fits your needs, is within your budget, and if you can find a dealer that is honest and treats you well...you are in good shape.

@jimmy553015 жыл бұрын
When I started looking for a compact tractor, I started with the BX. I ended up getting a B2650, and here's why: loader lift capacity, overall weight, 3-point hitch features, and ground clearance. The weight and loader capacity are obviously larger for the larger tractor. I understand the B2650 compares more closely to the Deere 3000 series. But I didn't like the BX not having position control on the 3-point hitch. My B2650 has position control, extendable links, and "telescoping flat bar style" stabilizers (on the inside), all of which works very well. (Maybe the BX now has optional "telescoping flat bar style" stabilizers?? That would be a great improvement.) The telescoping flat bar stabilizers have holes that you put a pin through to lock it at a certain length. They are easy to pull the pin and change the length. And there are enough holes to give a variety of usable lengths, including float positions.

The 3 point height adjustment would be a nice feature and I wish I had had it when I was using my box blade on the driveway. I have since paved my driveway so its not much of an issue anymore. I would also love the JD drive over deck. While my Kubota deck is not that hard to take on and off I only do it when I have to. I chose the Kubota because my neighbor has one and I was able to watch him and ask lots of questions. I have both a John Deere dealer and a Kubota dealer about equal distances apart, both being less than 10 miles away. My John Deere dealer is fine but I enjoy working with the guys at the Kubota dealer more. I always enjoy watching your videos and seeing the differences between the various tractors you own and use. Thanks for the honest review. Its refreshing.

Hello Mr. Tim . Nice video over the tractors . I am a farmer in north west Germany 8km from Emden. We ride 6 john deere from 42 to 170 hp . The tractors are from 1972 to 2008 . John Deere is a great global Player .but the engeneers from john deere learn never .that growing point from the top link on the tractor must a few inches more nearly to the axle !!! And the growing point must a few inches higher .. In germany we ride since the tractors came on the farms .the most machines in 3point hitch . On the old fendt .old deutz .old international tractors is it no problem to adjust the machines in the 3point hitch . On our john 2040 from 1986 with sg 2 was is often a catastrophe to adjust the machines in the 3point hitch . The lift high was often too low . Nice greatings from North West Germany from Bert !!!

Another great video Tim. I’ve actually thought about this a lot because I’m starting to have a lot of issues with my 2038r. The main issues I’m having is as follows, the stand of the loader has been replaced twice the bolts keep breaking it keeps bending. The mid mount mower setting is going haywire now. The front loader loses pressure whenever you have a load on it and you can almost watch it settling to the ground. My Backhoe You Must keep raising the Boom or the backhoe just bounces all over the place. And I am told by my dealer all this is normal just keep the pin in to keep it locked. So the only other tractor around me is orange. But service is the key and I am not getting it from my dealer.

The end of the video doesn't surprise me at all... The curling power on the Deere is just superb for it's size. My brother has a BX25, and he and I can both tell that the Deere has better hydraulics on the loader when it comes to lifting stuff. However, the actual lifting cylinders struggled on both tractors to lift that load, but did you see how Tim was able to come in at a different angle and a slightly higher height to take advantage of the stronger curling function on the Deere? Well done video Tim, can't wait for more!

Tim, I’ve been following you since quite some time, your way of explaining things inspired me to buy my Johnny, also a 1025R. I’m not a brand jockey, but my JD shop is right around the corner, whereas a presence of Kubota shops takes me to much time to reach, hence I’ve got me a Johnny. Keep them review videos coming, you and your family are doing a marvelous job! On a side note, how about a review of an offset ditch mower! I’m in the market, but haven’t seen much in the InteeWeb about it, especially since I need to install a 3rd function for it. Yours truly, Volker

The thing is if john deere did the test they would point out all the good things of the jd and the bad things of the kubota it would be the same if kubota did the test si its great that you are doing it

Hi Tim . Very good video. I looked at a lot of tractors before I bought mine. Ended up between 4 brands John Deere, Kubota, kioti and Massey Ferguson. The John Deere and Massey Ferguson turned out to be the best for my needs. The Massey Ferguson was $6,ooo less in price. The only thing wrong was I wish I had bought a bigger one! Both good tractors.

Owned a JD 1025R, was a decent tractor, wasn’t real impressed with quality. Just sold a Kubota B2601 and that was a good tractor. I’m on to a Kioti NX5510. So far so good

Tim, dunno if it's a common flaw with the 1025r, but this past winter I've busted two of the threaded ends for the sway control turnbuckles. Something about having a backblade on there and the shock forces involved with pushing snow caused them to fatigue and shear eventually.
@TractorTimewithTim5 жыл бұрын
Did you have the sway bars tight?
@cameronlewis53075 жыл бұрын
Tractor Time with Tim fairly tight, I keep it adjusted to the quick hitch. Maybe an inch sway maximum at top position. They both failed within a week of each other as well, so it had a good hard 4 years of work before it happened. The replacement ends from GFP were also a different color, so I'm wondering if they changed something with the manufacturing process as well.
@TractorTimewithTim5 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I've never broken one, and as you can tell, I'm not 'gentle' to the tractor.
@bobhomestead73965 жыл бұрын
Tim the reason why the tiller was lifting in the back was because you had the mower deck on. To solve that problem, Lift the mower deck all the way up, then set the mower height adjustment to top. this actually lets the three point hitch fall all by itself, Because the mower will stay at the top level were is will not interfere. Hope i explained that good. There also is an adjustment to limit the three point hitch, i will have to look that up when i have more time. Thanks for the video.

Tim i'm a very happy viewer of both of y'all. I don't want to nitpick your opinion of both of these tractors but they're not both the same tractors , I did a lot of research on this before I bought mine . To compare them both the same you would have to go up to a Kubota B2301 to compared to your John Deere 1025r the loader have the same hydraulic lift on the 3 point hitch , That's the one I ended up buying Kubota B2301. The Kubota BX tractor is equal to the John Deere 1023e series . I'm sorry but that is an equal comparison to both of these tractors and I'm not a fanboy for Kubota. I think they're both great tractors in the real world deal this is true comparisons . Y'all keep doing the good works. "Make sure to eat a hamburger for me GOD BLESS" Chad

I am kind of wondering about the comparison. I am wondering if the B not the BX is what you should of compared to be more exact. Does deer even have a baby deer. The BX is more of a sub sub compact. Kind of like my LX is slightly smaller then the L.

great video, you pointed out a con that is present in most sub compact tractors, that is a lack of position control, just about the only con I have with my 2009 Massey Ferguson GC2400, I sure it was a oversight but I see this routinely on videos posted by lot of folks that is improperly adjusted tilt angles on tillers, correct angle should be level to tilted forward at center of tine shaft to ground this enables tiller to perform as designed.

Thanks for making such great content! Wish i would have watched this before Bought my sub compact.. But i think it made the right choice! 1025R for the win!!! Keep the videos coming! God Bless!

I had issues with my bx25 using a post hole digger. Some of the longer augers dragged on the ground. The longer 3 point hitch on the 1025r might fix that problem. I don’t know because I haven’t used post hole diggers on my JD.
@TractorTimewithTim2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it will make much difference, honestly. The subcompacts just aren't quite big enough to handle a post hole digger. It can be done...but not well. Of course, there will be folks respond "I've dug 100 holes with mine..." I get it. I have dug several holes with mine too...but it doesn't do it comfortably.

i have a bx and i would buy one again i personally like it better than the deere but its not like im going to not like someone because they have a deere And a funny thing to note on my tiller the dealer flipped the pins to point inwards so you don't need to loosen the 3 point
@richbutinski13674 жыл бұрын
To keep the mower from dropping when you drop the 3 point, u have to have the mower height adjuster in the top lock position...
@scottlagaly13895 жыл бұрын
Early 2000’s New Holland TC18 (and I am sure other models) have the positioning lever for the three point.
@JackAcid135 жыл бұрын
Thanks for doing this series, I run a Kubota bx25d and that lack of position control is something I struggle with on every 3 point attachment. There is an adjustment for how quickly the implement drops, but that doesn't really fix that problem.
@rexmundi8154 Жыл бұрын
The old school way to set a lower limit is to hook a chain that doesn’t let the arms drop below a certain point. I run a chain around the seat base on my very old Kubota to each of the arms on the 3 point hitch

Excellent video as always Tim, I have a 1025r, but like all tractors as well. To me the most important aspect of owning a tractor, that is a sizable investment, is the longevity of the tractor & the dealership as it relates to service & repair. Pretty much any subcompact tractor will do the task of the average homeowner but down the road will the tractor continue to perform well, and can I count on the dealership to back me up😊

Really appreciate your review. Can’t wait for the next video. 👍👍 any chance you can compare the belly mowers for mowing the lawn? I wonder if the weight difference of the tractors on the grass will have any affect since they both have R4 tires. Really appreciate the time, effort, and insight you put into all your videos.
@TractorTimewithTim5 жыл бұрын
we'll compare the mowers. our grass is essentially dead (from dry weather), so not sure if we'll have much to say about weight difference. Won't be able to get 'springtime' type test.
