This video made my troubleshooting pretty easy on my New Holland LS120 . Shares the same engine , I actually have the 318 too and am just just swapping out the regulator till the new one comes in. Thanks for the video!

I'm not sure why your wire terminals melted on the voltage regulator. I would take the mounting bolt back out and clean that engine tin with sandpaper. I believe the voltage regulator needs a good ground, at that tin looked pretty rusty. That could cause heat. Good luck. Interested to see how long the Chinese voltage regulator last. I snatched up a used Onan one, with 700 hours on it, from a local junkyard. $10. I took a gamble and it worked. I think Onan ones are $90 plus. I ain't paying that.

I am always suspect of a connector that was hot enough to melt the plastic....I would cut it off and crimp a new one on. The metal loses its strength when heated and could come loose again in the future causing more heat.
