Just found this video. I have two 420s in my garage. Probably one of the best garden tractors ever built in my opinion. Thanks for explaining the differences so well.

I will purchase one of your 420’s if you would be willing to part with one of them. To a good property owner and would take great care of it.

I want you to know your videos are so amazing every video I watch you are truly a privilege individual to own so many different types of tractors. I currently own a John Deere 300 garden tractor. This is a family heirloom tractor. I restored it to absolutely brand new rebuilt the motor, and all the panels are repaired and painted with automotive paint I also own a John Deere 425. I’m not very happy with it with a video that you put up about the 60 inch decks on the 425 and I have the same problem that you have but I know if you choke it then you don’t have a problem, my tractor is John Deere 455 but I just can’t afford one because they’re so expensive. Any idea on how to get a good deal on a diesel John Deere maybe even a John Deere 430

Something tells me you're the guy to answer my question. I hope you can help. I have a 318 with wheel weights. I adjusted the wheel weight bolt to stick out the side and put two nuts on it with a gap between them to attach a rope Clevis. I put the back of the tractor on a Jack and put one brake on so that the wheel would spin pulling a rope saw with me on the other end. What damage am I doing to the differential if any.??

What attachments are available for 420 8 just got one repower Honda. It needs attention but I got it to use. Any rear numbers for the rear attachments on the 420. I enjoy you films and learning a lot. I cant find anything on Honda gx670 throttle governor settings since mines messed up from the guy I got it from.

Why is there 3 holes on the hitch part for and how much you did you pay for rear PTO and 3point for 400 series. And on the left steering cylinder where the pivot point that attached to the tractor does that have play on the cylinder case it's self. Mines a 430 diesel

If I get a chance to do one I certainly will. The 322 is still in pieces waiting for me to find time to finish repairing the brakes.

Is it possible to make a 318 rear end have diff lock and high low by getting the necessary parts and putting them in
@mmrbeef3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can convert rear ends. However, it is easier to find a 420/430 rear transaxle and install it in the 300 series than it is to swap components.
@bkaldrich4 жыл бұрын
Where did you get your parts from? You mentioned a name of a company but could not make it out.

Is that a quick attach in the background? Does it work on the 420?
@mmrbeef2 жыл бұрын
Yes, in the background is a quick hitch for a 300 series. There is also a quick attach for the 400 series. The 400 series hitches are harder to find compared to the 300 series.
@mikekoscielniak22152 жыл бұрын
I understand this gets more complicated but would you choose a 425 over a 318..
@mmrbeef2 жыл бұрын
It depends on your goals. If you want to have a multifunctional machine that has a lower input cost then the 318 is the way to go. If you want a good mower that is easier to use I would go with the 425. The machines themselves are not far apart in cost $1,500-2,500 in most areas depending on condition, hours, etc. The attachments are the expensive part for the 425. A 49 single stage blower for a 318 should run less than $500 most of the time meanwhile a single stage 46 blower for the 425 will easily set you back $1,000-1,400 most days of the week if not more and a two stage 47 blower will set you back $2,000 or more based on the recent market. Cost wise I think I would settle on a 318 and if I wanted to step up to the 4-5 series I would look into a 445 or 455. The cost of the attachments is driven by demand, quick hitch attachments for the 4-5 series fit every garden tractor John Deere has produced since 1992 (4-5, X4-5, X5-5, and all the X700's) plus the blowers, blades, and brooms also fit the 1 series and many of the 2 series SCUT tractors out there.

@@mmrbeef thanks so much for the information and perspective We recently purchased a 318 and we’re able to get quite a few attachments with it but it has a few undisclosed problems with the engine. A 425 with blower is very close to home and for sale but is at that 1000 hr mark but that nylon cam gear has not been replaced so that seems like it could be a looming problem

I’d really like to get a tiller for the 4-5 tractor., we have one for the 318
