John Deere 420 vs 318: Part 1

420 is my next machine! Vanguard repower. I have two 318's, a 317 parts tractor, and a 212 on deck for restoration.

I can certainly attempt a video like that. I prefer to have example of each machine but I don't think that will happen anytime soon... Not enough space or money to have that type set up.

Could you show the proper connection way for the hudrolics on the 420. I have just received a 420 with Honda gx670 repower and the linkages on the throttle isnt connected so in kinda in the wind. I've added a new carburetor. Any helps appreciated. Keep up the great films.

Which part of the hydraulic system are you trying to hook up? Are you wondering about how to connect attachments or how to connect all the hydraulics on the machine?

Those are V61’s made by Vredestein. Great tires for 2wd garden tractors.

Grandpa taught me how to drive a 318 when I was 4 and as a kid I was like "this thing is huge compared to other mowers". But then you, but the 420 beside the 318 and it looks like a giant to the 318.

My 430 has a trans problem,it slows down going up hill,you have to keep pushing the trans shifter forward and it will still get real slow....if you move one of the aux levers it will speed up and when you turn back to level ground it will speed up,,,you have to constantly work the speed control lever......help!!!!!!

Did you buy that suspension seat for the 318 after market? I have a 322 and I need a new suspension under my seat

I purchased that suspension seat from a guy off WFM several years ago. It is not a Deere OEM seat but it is fantastic. I think he only had two left when I bought that one and I should have bought both! He has not made a run of them since. He and a friend basically tore the old Deere seat down and fixed all the weaknesses it had and beefed it up some. AuxHydro sells reconditioned seats. I have not tried one but everyone seems to like their products.

I have a tall back seat off a fork lift on my 318. Free from a friend who works on fork lifts.

The 318 makes regular mowers look small and the 420 makes the 318 look small can’t imagine the 420 next to a regular riding mower

I never realised how much bigger the hood is on a 420 than a 318.

It is a pretty stark contrast between the two! I wish I had a 430 hood to throw into the picture!

Why is it that every video I watch of these types, the person talking is always sniffleing?

Haven't you read the KZbin rules for mower videos... Rule number 1: the presenter must sniffle..... Of course you haven't read rule number 2: of the viewer finds the video objectionable he or she must stop playback and move on to the next video.

@@mmrbeef you forgot the 2nd most important rule the presenter must say um um um after every word/ sentence. And the most important rule of all although this might just be me? cut out the parts that sound stupid and then realize the parts you cut out were crucial to the video so then you either say whatever or you spend 2 more hours reediting and re rendering the video.
