The 8440 was tested in Nebraska @ 179 PTO & the 8640 228 PTO hp .Both were introduced in 1978 with the 2600/2800 plows,Titan Turbo 6620,Turbo 7720,Turbo 8820 & 4420 combines
@bigtractorpower7 жыл бұрын
+generationll the sales brochure lists them at 175 and 225. While they were introduced in the fall of 1978 they were model year 1979 machines. This always gets tricky on dates because machines are always introduced at fall farm shows but are listed as New for the following year. For example the 9620R was introduced in August 2014 but the first production models did not hit dealer lots until January 2016. So do you say the generation I 9620R was produced from 2014 to 2016 or do you say 2015 to 2016. The generation II 9620R was introduced in the fall of 2016 but I have not come across one at a dealer yet or in the field. By the spring of 2017 the generation II 9620Rs will be rolling. So is it a 2016 or a 2017 model?

Thanks friend for your time and effort showing us these videos! I remember when these girls were new ! Question? You ever done one like this on 7020 and 7520?
@bigtractorpower7 жыл бұрын
The 7020 and the 7520 are in our wish list to film. So far we have not located any to film. I think I have a lead on a pair in Wisconsin that will hopefully be filmed this year.

@bigtractorpower7 жыл бұрын
The 7020 and 7520 are articulated 4wds from the early 1970s. OLF bought a 7530 fwa tractor from the 2000s and an 8530. At some point I would like to do a video on how many times John Deere has reused and duplicated model numbers. It's an extensive list. The most interesting duplication is from the 1990s when they offered a 9400 4wd tractor and a 9400 combine at the same time.
@gleanerk7 жыл бұрын
Confusing but still fun, either way! Thanks

i grew up driving an 8640 pulling a 30 ft disc and a 36ft 980 cultivator... dad bought it in 2000 and we put two motors and a tranny and 6000 hours on it before we traded again.... great tractor but making the motor part of the frame was the draw back.

@bigtractorpower7 жыл бұрын
I would like to do a run down on the 30, 40 and 50 series showing the difference in the grilles, mufflers, cabs and decals. I need to locate an 8430, 8630 and an 8850 to film.

These tractors were fine if left alone. Too many power happy guys tried turning them up like the 7520/6030. The 619 was fine but the 466 wasn't quite up to it until the 50 series. The transmission in the 8630/40/50 gave enough issue and were it not for the strike in the late 80s, there may have been real problems. The strike gave the engineers time to solve problems. Deere also tried to buy Versatile so they could produce 4x4 tractors and skirt the strike. The Government stopped them by claiming they would monopolize the market. Hardly true.
@chadjustice85605 жыл бұрын
It's ironic that the same thing happened just a few short years ago when Deere had an agreement to buy precision planting but the government wouldn't approve because they already had 70 percent of the planting market so they cost the stockholders of precision planting money because agco was allowed to buy it and didn't pay near as much
