We had a 45. When you’re 4-5 years old it looks like the biggest machine in the world. Dad used it for wheat and soybeans. We had a corn picker also.

During 1958 harvest , combining soybeans i broke two of those in one day ! Fed one a brick that bent the cylinder . Ran over a large rock with the other one ,put a big bow in header cutter bar ! Boss was very proud of me !!!

These are the machines that made farming what it is today. They may be old but, in my opinion, still far superior and better made than those of today.

@@Deandeere4020 Indeed it is. I grew up with many of these old machines and still love watching them work. Truly glad to see yours are in good condition and well maintained. Ever consider showing some of the upkeep, maintenance you do on them? I have my grand dad's '35 non-styled "B", I need to restore it soon. Cheers :)

I all most bought a 45 back in 1968. It had what I called a 3 row headdress on it. I shed away from it because the engine had a base ball sized hole in it. I later learned a later model 217 John Deere engine would have been fitted on it. I know where a 105 is now that still runs but needs a transmission and naturally some sheet metal work.

Great looking and running 45! We combine some wheat every summer with our JD 40 round back, would love to shell some corn with it someday with a 205 corn head. Great video!

Ours was a squareback,sneezed all the way through harvest every year,a MF205 with a cab and bi-cooler that never worked replaced it,had to leave the door open to survive the heat,I sneezed trough them years too.

In 1960 dad bought a new 1959 model 45 combine. It was a high boy. An elevator run up the right side of the combine , dumped into top of the grain tank. The unloading auger folded over the top of the grain.

I ran the 95 B and 105 JD combines, very similar to the 45 just larger capacity and faster. I graduated to 4400, 6600 and 7700 series later

Would love to take a gander at those wind rows and see how many kernels of corn there are per sq yard. My guess is at least 10.

Interestingly it does just as good a job getting only clean corn in the tank as modern stuff does! You really need ear plugs to run that thing though.

@@Deandeere4020 I'm asking for real. I want to know more information about combine machines to easily compare different types and versions.
@RhGuse3 күн бұрын
We had a 3300. I think it was just one size larger than the 45. It could do 4-5 ton per hour. I would estimate the 45 could do 2-3 ton per hour in top shape. It doesn’t look like the 45 has lights, so probably about 20 ton per day max.
