Hi, really cool watching those old girls ploughing like that. My dad had a 7520 and 6030, both 1975 models. He's gone now but my brother still has the 7520 and I have the 6030. I don't use it much but take it out at least once a year to keep the cobwebs off. A 6030 is kinda like an old Harley, big loud and obnoxious but a blast to run, I love it. Thanks for the video

That’s a great story, he must have been the coolest guy in the neighborhood! Glad you still have them in the family. Great analogy with the Harley, I need to remember that! Thanks for watching and the comments.

@@Thewaywefarm Yeah I've had a few people wanting to buy the 6030, can't see myself ever letting it go until maybe I am in a retirement home. I actually own 4 JD tractors that you have, a 4020, a 4430, a 6030 and an 8440. As well as a 4010, a 4230 and a 1630. It's pretty green in my yard too! lol

@@northsaskguy7878 That’s a great lineup! I grew up with a 4010 as our big tractor, Dad and brother still farm with it. My brother also has a 4230 and 2 4055s

Love all that HP! Nice surprise seeing Jason there! What a great-looking fleet. At this point we all love the novelty of moldboard plowing, but certainly don't miss the "fall-grind" "needing" to do it.

It’s fun to do a little for a KZbin video but I wouldn’t want to plow thousands of acres like we used to do! I’m thinking we should do it again next year on a few acres!

Not a lot of moldboard plowing done anymore. Plowing is an art. A lost art now. My dad taught me how to plow when i was a teenager. I'm 53 now.
@Thewaywefarm Жыл бұрын
I’m 53 as well, probably plowed my first time alone when I was 15. Definitely a lost skill.

@Thewaywefarm I plowed my 9 acre hayfield in 2019. I don't think it had seen a moldboard plow in 50 years.
@anthonyhengst2908 Жыл бұрын
I agree, I'm 56 and even John Deere discontinued the manufacturing of the moldboard plow. How times change. Perhaps not necessarily for the better?
@myronparks3495 Жыл бұрын
@anthonyhengst2908 I'm still in favor of rolling this ground over occasionally. A lot of farmers here are no tilling, what I call half ass farming.

Great video I'm guessing that the 6030 would pull the white six bottom if it was dualed up
@Thewaywefarm Жыл бұрын
We’re going to put it on the six bottom someday. It’s got the power if it can get the traction.
