I rebuilt an old 300HP "327" many years ago, and what I wouldn't have given to have this kind of explanation, and the ability to afford the tools that would have made that job so much easier. Watching these videos takes me back in time, and I certainly appreciate your ability to handle so many varied electrical and mechanical issues. My hat's off to you Warren.

Speakin of screw ups, years ago, I was machining a big drum that compacts the soil, it's chained down with 2 chain binders and 3/8 chain. The drum weighs about 7,000 lbs. Without knowing it, I bumped the jog in B axis, that rotated the drum a few degrees. Next operation after bumping the jog, was a 26" boring bar, boring the bulkheads. That bore bar started smashing the he'll out of the crooked drum, "BANG BANG BANG". It literally PICKED UP THE DRUM as it was smashing the hell out of it. How it did that, being chained down is beyond me. To make things worse, I was so new, that the red button next to the green button is "feed hold", so when I hit that, the spindle was STILL spinning, smashing away at the drum. The tool literally welded itself inside the spindle. A company had to come out and regrind the spindle taper. Today, I teach that story to new hires. It was a bad day for sure.

Loved hearing you ramble about you dog. I have 17 jack Russell fox terrier mix and really admire the dogs that show tremendous courage must be a guy thing. Can you demonstrate torque to yield I don’t no what means.

I know it hurts to loose a dog because he is a loyal friend. Great video. I am glad we know what happened to your friend. My wife heard that and was concerned .

I broke a socket leaning over the front of an engine pulling towards me. Think it was around 165 ft/lbs. Broke a rib on that stunt. Probably 9 months before I could take a deep breath, or laugh without pain. That Wyo guy is around the Hawk Springs area, or south of there.

After a few more years of experience than I like to admit, I think that without cuss words, trucking, mechanicking, warehousing, and the woods industries would all grind to a halt.

Come on warren, a imperial dti in a magnetic lock base will do just the same & a guy of your calibre could quickly make a custom clamp bar to cinch the liners down over a broad area. To many late nights and weekends are wearing ya out pal, been there n done it. Nice to see you've got ya lad interested, wish mine would take an interest in engineering. LoL @ using a putty knife, used to keep and use good quality old worn spring steel 1/2" rules.

Im starting an agri mechanics course early next year. Was tossing between agri mechanic, and electrical and have definitly gone with agri mechanics, Its sad because o live in the city, so i have to go 14 hurs into the bush to do m course as not one tech school near here has that option

I have seen the torque to yeald head bolts on automotive videos . Did not realize they were used in some diesel tractor engines ? Did this start with engines with aluminum blocks and / or heads ? One thing is for sure , it is a method to sell more parts . Wyr God bless

Sorry about Joe, They are a mans best friend. I have a couple of questions about my 70 2020 w/ 4.202. It has 2200 hrs. and has a lot of blow by. Think other owner might of got hot sitting in peach orchard all day idling. Used less then 200 hrs a year on small hay acreage and wondering how far you would take an in-frame rebuild. Start great lots of power and doesn't smoke thinking a broken ring or maybe dusted cylinders since we live in the high dessert of Co. Also it has the 69-70 model C pump, do you have any recommendations on rebuilding it or replacement if it decides to go south. Wish I was in your area I would just watch and hand you tools all day long. Thanks in advance and keep the videos coming for they are a wealth off info.

How do parent-metal linerless bores seal against the gasket and head? Most of them seem to have less head gasket issues than Deere.

Lightly wrecked cars are worth more to part ouot by selling to some company in South America or something like that. This practice is why you cannot find a used car in North America that isn't completely demolished.

The grinding sound of that level being dragged across that new cylinder head was horrendous, it the spec is a few thou then you need a true flat edge.

piston protrusion is measured from top of block & NOT top of liner ? if it is not with tolerance how would one correct it ? thanks
@westerntruckandtractorrepa13536 жыл бұрын
Yes ,I was measuring from top of block, if it's wrong then more than likely piston length from wrist pin to top of crown is wrong , or connecting rod length.
@wyrtwister42606 жыл бұрын
So , does the liner need to be higher or lower than the block deck height ? I got confused . :-( Wyr God bless
@crazyjdkid6 жыл бұрын
Ever so slightly higher than the block.

Gives the bolts time to stretch.
@donald10566 жыл бұрын
They stretch that much in that time period
@westerntruckandtractorrepa13536 жыл бұрын
On these newer engines they have torque to yield bolts and they stretch pretty fast.
