I have had those injury surprises on jobs, they scared the living daylights out me, I was lucky to walk away thru out my career, a guy just keeps going. Head wounds bleed like a stuck hog anyway, don’t ask me how I know that. Glad it wasn’t worse for you, stay safe young man. I worked on a 690B at one time, they seemed to be a pretty decent machine for its time. Thanks for the video, always a pleasure to watch.

When that shroud fell and the video fell silent, I thought for sure it knocked you unconscious. No groans, no cursing, no talking, just wind in the camera. “Oh shit there went Warren” You’re a hard working SOB Warren! Hope the head stops ringing soon.
@MatWalter-q3hАй бұрын
Two cents worth... You are a straight forward logically minded person and that is fundamentally what makes you very good at your job. The way you think is not common nor promoted in this day and age. The reason no one will work on old equipment... they are not really interested in 'fixing' anything what they are interested in is endless drama. Poor me I got my hand dirty.... oh my it took all day. As though there was some other thing they may have done that mattered... like texting there mother about the weather. The motor home is a metaphor for our entire society. No one needs a motor home, they produce nothing and consume massively... therefore when most mechanics are called to 'look at one' go ahead.. look at it.. get out the parts cannon and shoot off a few shots... get a good bill going.... that way everyone gets the drama... owner gets to complain of the bill, in fact several bills the mechanic gets to complain that although he did what the computer said the machine still does not work.... the parts people get to sell some parts, fed ex got a delivery and the motor home that is not needed at all is still 'broken". This is success not failure. Success is measure in drama and how many people got paid. When you and I were young we were taught that success was a fixed machine so it could go to work and move dirt.... there is no dirt to move and everyone still gets paid even when the machine does not move so today success is not what it was. I mention all this in hope you can find solace and a good living letting go of the idea that there is anything to be 'fixed' Go out to more motor homes.... they are gold mines... seldom rusty and usually just need a part replaced as it has not moved in three years. The owners are so grateful you came to the motor home and they did not have to tow it and any bill you give them is pocket change compared to the tow plus a dealer bill. I have found the work so easy and fast I negotiate a $ amount to fix it there on the side of the road given I came all that way and such. I learned this by driving 1 hour there, fix it in one hour and drive home and bill less than the tow bill would have been.... no more of that. To go to a motorhome and fix it where it sits is worth all of the tow bill plus two hours at the dealer whether it takes me 10 mins or 6 hours. The owner of every motor home I have fixed was thrilled that it actually works again properly and could careless what the bill was. good work. cheers

Good video, Warren! Would love to see a video about your "emergency" motorhome stranded at the fairgrounds. Thinks like the loose primary wire on the starter plague the RV industry. I firmly believe they give a kid named "Freddy" a square drive, a pocket full of self tapping screws, point toward the assembly line and say: "Go put that RV together as fast as you can".

I just saw the video. I’m glad you’re okay. The only thing about working by yourself, even though we all do it by choice and out of necessity. Not sure if you or your viewers have seen one of my all time favorite movies, There Will Be Blood (no pun intended). But the main character Daniel Plainview (played by Daniel Day-Lewis) reminds me of you in some ways (not ruthless or evil). A hard working, no non-nonsense, determined and driven individual. No time to whine, complain, feel sorry for yourself or give up….just gotta push through. 👍👍

In the world of working with machine tools in a machine shop there's an old saying: "Don't guess, or assume what's going to happen, know what's going to happen". It's when we don't slow down enough to pay attention to things that something jumps out and bites us. Happens to me once in awhile and I realize I was ignoring the old rule and not concentrating on everything I was doing. My biggest problem is dropping things.

I got a mower that has a 4 cylinder Kubota diesel in it, it has an antifreeze leak that I can't find, Coolant is not going into the oil and there are no wet areas around the radiator park in on cement overnight and there are so puddles under it, the only thing I can think of is it must be leaking into the intake somehow and coming out the exhaust. You would think the muffler would be gummy soot inside and its not, I am at wits end with it.

I hand the knife point into my forehead just above my eye... deep enough that when I went to pull the knife away my head didn't release it on the first try... oops ....
